Losing streak hits three
FeatherweightUFC
June 20, 2026
Amil lost to Christian Rodriguez via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:43 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Entering having lost back-to-back fights, Amil likely needed a victory in order to extend his run with the company. Instead, he put forth arguably his worst performance to date. Hyder got destroyed by a head kick after the two men fought to even terms the first few minutes. The fact he didn't go out on the spot right away was a minor miracle. Of course, all it did was prolong the suffering, with Rodriguez eventually grabbing his prone opponent and locking up the guillotine. Maybe the UFC will give Amil a reprieve considering he won his first three fights with the promotion, but his recent three-fight losing streak combined with the fact he turned 36 years old in May could be too much for Hyder to overcome.

Set to face Rodriguez
FeatherweightUFC
April 13, 2026
Amil will face Christian Rodriguez in a featherweight bout at UFC Vegas 119 on June 20, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jamall Emmers in November, and the 35-year-old veteran has lost back-to-back fights now. He'll be facing another fighter who's on a down run, as Rodriguez has dropped three of his last four bouts, but Amil will need to do a better job of controlling the flow of the fight if he wants to get back to winning ways in this event.
Can't defend takedown in loss
FeatherweightUFC
November 8, 2025
Amil lost to Jamall Emmers via unanimous decision (27-29, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Amil makes his living as a high-volume striker with elite cardio. That's all well and good, except for when you're giving up seven takedowns and 8:35 worth of control time like he did here against Emmers. Amil was effective on the feet in the early going before it all fell apart. He simply wasn't able to remain upright long enough during the final 10 minutes to get back in the fight. Already 35 years old, Amil has now lost back-to-back bouts. He'll almost certainly be fighting for his job his next time out.
Facing Emmers at UFC Vegas 111
FeatherweightUFC
October 13, 2025
Amil will face Jamall Emmers at UFC Vegas 111 on Nov. 8, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Amil will take the place of Austin Bashi, who had to pull out of the bout due to an undisclosed injury. Amil will be on the hunt for redemption after falling to Jose Delgado at UFC 317 on June 28.
Suffers first pro defeat
FeatherweightUFC
June 28, 2025
Amil lost to Jose Miguel Delgado via KO (knee) at 0:26 of Round 1 at UFC 317 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Amil entered with an undefeated professional record, having displayed great durability in the past. Yet all it took was one knee to the face from Delgado about 20 seconds in to put him down for the first time. Hyder lacks technical skill, but he's super aggressive. That's typically served him well in the past, but when you fight that recklessly every time out, this is a potential outcome. The 35-year-old California native should be back in short order.
Next fight scheduled
FeatherweightUFC
May 30, 2025
Amil is scheduled to compete against fellow featherweight Jose Delgado at UFC 317 in Las Vegas on June 28, per Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
Amil's next objective is a more convincing win. Prior to UFC 317, his only 2025 fight has been a split-decision win over William Gomis, who Amil upset in a bout more favored to his opponent.
