Booked vs. Silva

March 17, 2026
Chairez will take on Bruno Silva in a flyweight bout at UFC Vegas 118 on June 6, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Chairez has won two straight, and he narrowly defeated Felipe Bunes in his last bout back in February. Still, that pushed his record to 3-2 in the UFC, and he'll look for his third straight win against a slumping fighter in Silva, who's dropped four of his last five bouts.

Barely gets past Felipe Bunes
FlyweightUFC
February 28, 2026
Chairez defeated Felipe Bunes via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
As high as a -350 favorite in some spots, this was an underwhelming performance from Chairez in his native Mexico despite the victory. He dropped Round 1 on all three scorecards after Bunes was able to take his back and hang out there for north of three minutes. The two men fought to near identical terms on the feet in Round 2 before Chairez picked up the pace a bit in Round 3, particularly in the dying seconds. Edgar lacked aggressiveness throughout, and he's darn lucky two-thirds of the judges thought he did enough to win. The 30-year-old improves to 3-2 (1NC) in a half-dozen UFC fights, with the two setbacks coming against the current UFC Flyweight Champion (Joshua Van) and the guy due to challenge for his title next, (Tatsuro Taira).

ANALYSIS

Chairez will not fight Alessandro Costa at Noche UFC on Sept. 13, according to Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
A leg injury caused Chairez's withdrawal from Noche UFC. He wants to move the Costa fight to a later date, preferably mid-October. There is a chance Chairez can compete again in 2025.
Scheduled for Noche UFC

July 8, 2025
Chairez is scheduled to compete against fellow flyweight Alessandro Costa at Noche UFC in San Antonio on Sept. 13, per Danny Segura of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
Most recently, Chairez defeated C.J. Vergara via face crank. For his next fight, he takes on a competitor making his return after more than one year off because of an untimely shoulder injury. Still, Vergara is a capable adversary, having stopped Kevin Borjas before his injury.
Career-best effort in win

March 29, 2025
Chairez defeated C.J. Vergara via submission (face crank) at 2:30 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
It was by far the best performance we've seen to date from Chairez, and it came in a big spot in his native Mexico, in addition to earning him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Vergara had all sorts of trouble getting out of the starting block, and Edgar to full advantage. He floored the gas pedal and eventually clipped Vergara with a combo that dropped him. He then jumped on top and eventually took the back of his opponent. Chairez's initial rear-naked choke attempt didn't work, but Vergara had no intention of sticking around and tapped to the ensuing face crank. Now 2-2 (1NC) in his first five UFC bouts, Chairez's roster spot should be secure for a while following this strong effort.
