Falls to 1-4 in past five fights
BantamweightUFC
May 30, 2026
Figueiredo lost to Yadong Song via submission (Guillotine Choke) at 4:42 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Macau, China.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a +460 underdog, Figueiredo got off to as good of a start as possible, winning a cautious opening frame on two of the three scorecards. He started to absorb significantly more damage in Round 2, which led to Figgy attempting a lazy double-leg takedown which immediately resulted in the guillotine choke and him tapping out. It's simply a mistake a 38-year-old former champion cannot be making at this level. Of course, Figueiredo was a massive underdog for a reason. The Brazilian's move to bantamweight hasn't gone well to say the least, with losses in four of his last five fights dating back to November 2024. About the only positive thing you can say is that at least Figueiredo has been falling to only elite competition (Song, Umar Nurmagomedov, Cory Sandhagen, Petr Yan).

Figueiredo will take on Yadong Song in the main event of UFC Fight Night 277 on May 30 in Macau, Simon Simano of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Figueiredo started strong at bantamweight with a win over Marlon Vera, but has since lost three of his last four fights. Song represents a step down from fighters like Petr Yan and Umar Nurmagomedov, but a loss here will likely force the veteran fighter to make some tough decisions.
Not competitive after weight miss
BantamweightUFC
January 24, 2026
Figueiredo lost to Umar Nurmagomedov via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 324 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The expected result was made that much more damaging for Figueiredo by a 2.5 pound weight miss on Friday morning. You have to respect his willingness to get in the Octagon and mix it up with any opponent at age 38, but it's clear Figueiredo isn't remotely on the level of top contenders such as Umar at this stage of his career. Figgy landed just eight significant strikes over the course of the 15-minute bout. If the UFC is going to continue to run Figueiredo out there, it needs to do a much better job of matching him up against reasonable competition. The Brazilian is 1-3 in his past four fights dating back to November 2024, with the setbacks coming against Nurmagomedov, Cory Sandhagen and current UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan.
Misses weight, PPV fight still on

Figueiredo is scheduled to compete against Umar Nurmagomedov in a catchweight fight Saturday at Las Vegas for UFC 324, per Aaron Bronsteter of Sportsnet.
ANALYSIS
Figueiredo missed the UFC's bantamweight limit by 2.5 pounds and will forfeit 25 percent of his purse to Nurmagomedov. The former will look to climb his way back up to the promotion's BW rankings by defeating a top contender in Nurmagomedov, whose lone loss in 20 fights came against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 311 last January.

Figueiredo will fight Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 324 on Jan. 24, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Figueiredo avoided falling into a three-fight losing streak by defeating Montel Jackson in October as a hefty underdog. The 37-year-old Figueiredo will likely be at a disadvantage again in January against Nurmagomedov, who has suffered just one loss in his 20-fight professional career.
Upset win in home country

Figueiredo defeated Montel Jackson via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Figueiredo had some troubles of late, dropping back-to-back main events to Cory Sandhagen and Petr Yan, but he got back in the W column here and did so as a hefty (+265) underdog. Giving up a ton of size to Jackson, Figgy made a point of trying to fight in tight. He landed a takedown in each of the first two rounds and was severely aided throughout by Jackson's low output on the feet. Figueiredo was clearly fading as the fight progressed, but in a three-round bout, he did enough earn all to pull the upset. There's really no reason to suggest the 37-year-old Brazilian can hang with the very best in the world at 135 pounds, but he's still a very valuable member of the roster capable of putting on strong performances such as this one.
