DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Ben Bishop, DAL vs. EDM ($7,500): It was a sluggish game against the Canucks, but Bishop made 24 saves and they pulled off a 2-1 win despite playing seven of their past eight games on the road. There was nothing in Bishop's performance to suggest he won't resume his usual workload, so expect him to get the nod against the Oilers. Bishop played three games against them last year and posted a .934 save percentage.

CENTER

Brayden Point, TB at NJ ($6,900): With 34 points, he's outscoring both Tyler Seguin ($7,200) and Jack Eichel ($6,500), and the Devils are once again falling into the depths with five straight losses. Cory Schneider is expected to get the start after Keith Kinkaid allowed four goals in an overtime loss Saturday, and he's still searching for his first win. Schneider's last start was coincidentally also against the Lightning; he allowed five goals in a loss, two of which were scored by Point.

Nico Hischier, NJ vs. TB ($4,500): The Devils are having a much tougher time than last year but their prized center continues to produce at an encouraging pace. He's scored three goals in his past two games, playing over 20 minutes in each and continues to drive possession for the Devils. The Lightning were victorious in their last meeting, 5-2, but in the past two games the Bolts have allowed eight goals.

WING

Eeli Tolvanen, NSH vs. BUF ($4,400): Eight months after making his NHL debut with three uneventful games, Tolvanen finally showed everyone what the hype was all about. Making his debut Saturday against Chicago, Tolvanen scored an even-strength goal and a power-play assist in 15 minutes of ice time. With Filip Forsberg injured, this is a great opportunity for Tolvanen to show he can be a top-six winger. He has incredible upside at this price and the Sabres have lost two in a row after their 10-game winning streak.

Jesse Puljujarvi, EDM at DAL ($3,200): Puljujarvi has quickly become a much better player under new head coach Ken Hitchcock, scoring a goal in four games. The Stars' blue line is missing key pieces, and Hitchcock's commitment to playing Puljujarvi in the top six is a very good sign.

Miikka Salomaki, NSH vs. BUF ($2,500): The Preds basically have an entire scoring line on the shelf, and now with Nick Bonino missing Saturday's game, they had no choice but to play the embattled Salomaki. The Finnish winger was having a tough season, playing less than 10 minutes in seven of his past eight games until he took Bonino's spot with Colton Sissons and Austin Watson, and ended up skating 16:45. Salomaki provides intriguing value, but it's worth noting both of his goals this season were empty-netters.

DEFENSE

Miro Heiskanen, DAL vs. EDM ($5,000): He has two assists in two games and continues to be leaned on heavily in John Klingberg's absence. Heiskanen has averaged 22:56 per game, and with his ability to both get shots on net and block shots, Heiskanen is a pretty sure bet in what could be another tight game if Mikko Koskinen gets the start in net.

Rasmus Dahlin, BUF at NSH ($3,900): Dahlin has averaged over 20 minutes the past few games with the Sabres short on defensemen. He has 14 points in 27 games, and though the Predators will not be an easy opponent, they're missing key players due to injury and have lost three of their past five games.
