2025 Fantasy Outlook
Taylor's expected to work as the backup to offseason acquisition Justin Fields in 2025. The journeyman Taylor has 94 NFL appearances (58 starts) under his belt, including a couple of cameos in mop-up duty in 2024, which was his first season with the Jets. Fields has never started more than 15 games in a season, so Taylor could get the call at some point to lead a Jets passing game that lacks established talent other than WR Garrett Wilson, but Taylor's rushing upside at age 36 is far lower than it was in his prime Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Ruled out for Sunday
Coach Aaron Glenn noted Friday that Taylor (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Justin Fields (knee), which sets the stage for Brady Cook to draw the start at QB for the Jets in Week 15, with Adrian Martinez slated to be elevated from the practice squad to serve as the team's backup. Taylor's next chance to see game action will occur Sunday, Dec. 21, when the Jets face the Saints on the road.

Taylor is on his seventh NFL team this year, but he doesn’t have to move far. After backing up Daniel Jones for the Giants the last two seasons, he will back up Aaron Rodgers for the Jets this season. Jones started three midseason games last year before being sidelined by a rib injury. He didn’t start again until the last two games, when the team’s Tommy DeVito fling had run its course. Taylor didn’t do much, throwing five TD passes and three interceptions with a 7.5 YPA, but he’s a poised veteran who gives the Jets a steadier hand than they got last year from their backups. Zach Wilson, who started 11 games last season, was traded, leaving Taylor as the clear No. 2. Taylor’s ceiling is modest, but he has some rushing upside -- last year he averaged 32 rush yards in his five starts.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Slated to start Week 12
Taylor is in line to work as the Jets' starting quarterback in Week 12 against the Ravens, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Justin Fields has thrown for 116 yards or fewer in four of his last five outings, opening the door for Taylor to take over as the starting quarterback. The 2-8 Jets aren't in playoff contention, but Taylor's superior passing ability will give the team a chance to better evaluate the performance of some of the team's young pass catchers, including rookie tight end Mason Taylor and trade acquisitions John Metchie and Adonai Mitchell at wide receiver.
