Ewers started the final three games of the 2025 season for the Dolphins, posting a 1-2 record and 3:3 TD:INT while averaging 190 passing yards per game. The 2025 seventh-round pick out of Texas is expected to serve as the backup to Malik Willis in 2026 after Miami gave Willis a three-year, $67.5 million contract in the offseason, though it’s worth noting that Willis has made only six starts since entering the NFL in 2022 and thrown for more than 136 yards just twice. A seventh-round pick in this year's draft, Ewers joins a Miami team that is financially committed to Zach Wilson as the backup to Tua Tagovailoa for at least 2025. But after three starting seasons at Texas following a one-year stint at Ohio State, Ewers has plenty of experience and boasts more upside than the typical seventh-rounder, as injuries contributed to his slide. This season, however, he's likely headed to the practice squad.
