Wiley has been working through a knee injury during training camp, though he was cleared to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Bears, when he caught two passes on as many targets for 12 yards while playing 21 snaps on offense and four on special teams. Newell notes that the Chiefs could get creative by making Wiley a cutday injured reserve candidate that would give the 2024 fourth-rounder additional time to recover from his knee issue. Newell has Noah Gray and Robert Tonyan ahead of Wiley as the two backup tight ends making Kansas City's 53-man roster behind Travis Kelce.
