2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mayer was limited to 156 receiving yards in 2024 as the distant No. 2 TE on Vegas’ depth chart behind record-setting rookie Brock Bowers. Barring a trade, Mayer’s pass catching opportunities project to remain minimal behind the 2024 first-round pick, though a change of scenery or Bowers injury could give Mayer the chance to shine. Mayer was a high-end prospect himself coming out of college, as the Raiders drafted him 35th overall in 2023 after the 6-foot-4, 265-pound TE topped 800 receiving yards in each of his last two college seasons at Notre Dame. He posted 304 receiving yards and two touchdowns as a rookie, so Mayer hasn’t turned heads as a pass catcher at the NFL level, but he’s a good enough blocker to see the field consistently alongside Bowers. Three catches in victory
Mayer caught three of five targets for 47 yards in Sunday's 14-12 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Mayer was able to pace the team with 47 yards while reeling in at least three passes for the fifth time in his last eight contests. The tight end finished his third campaign in Las Vegas having caught 35 of 50 targets for 328 yards and one touchdown over 13 regular-season contests. Mayer will enter next year as the top reserve option behind Brock Bowers (knee) at tight end with the Raiders.

Mayer seemed positioned as the Raiders' top tight end for years to come after being picked 35th overall out of Notre Dame in 2023 and subsequently starting 12 games as a rookie, but his outlook changed drastically this April when the team drafted Brock Bowers at No. 13 overall. While Mayer still figures to be an important part of the team, he's unlikely to play ahead of Bowers in obvious passing situations, which means there's no guaranteed of improving on last year's total of 40 targets. As good as he was catching passes during his Notre Dame career, Mayer may now find himself blocking more often than running routes, as Bowers is faster, smaller and far more dangerous with the ball in his hands. Any chance for a Year 2 breakout from Mayer would seem to depend on Bowers either missing time or being a shocking bust.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Ascends to TE1 with Bowers on IR
Mayer is set to work as the top tight end for the Raiders in the last two weeks of the regular season, as Brock Bowers was placed on injured reserve Wednesday due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Bowers usually works as the top pass catcher for the Raiders, but his absence will open the door for Mayer to take on a larger role. Mayer's best game of the season came when Bowers was sidelined in Week 6, as the former stepped up for five catches, 50 yards and a touchdown on seven targets against the Titans. The Raiders will face the Giants in Week 17 and Chiefs in Week 18.
