ANALYSIS
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Mayer should have a strong chance of hearing his name called in the first round as the first tight end off the board in the draft following an exceptional three-year career at Notre Dame. Over his final two seasons with the Fighting Irish, Mayer tallied 138 receptions for 1,649 yards and 16 touchdowns in 24 games.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
Mayer impressed as a freshman and took things to another level as a sophomore with 71 catches for 840 yards and seven touchdowns on 99 targets. Notre Dame’s offense often features the tight end but Mayer makes it a necessity as he is an athletic mismatch for any defense. The Irish have a fairly talented group of receivers but Mayer is the top option. That type of role is rare for tight ends and he is a close second to Brock Bowers in our rankings. There’s a steep drop-off at the position after Mayer so if you want a premium tight end like him, you’ll have to pounce early.
