2026 Fantasy Outlook
On the surface, Wright's second season in the NFL looks much like his first, but there were signs of progress despite the fact that he missed the first six weeks while recovering from knee surgery. His yards per carry crept up to 4.1, buoyed by a strong 2.5 yards per carry after contact. That mark would have ranked in the top five in the league had he seen more volume, ahead of the likes of Jonathan Taylor and Derrick Henry. In Wright's one game with significant carries, a Week 14 rout of the Jets, he looked the part of a lead back, turning 24 totes into 107 yards and a touchdown. It was enough to keep him ahead of Ollie Gordon on the depth chart in the No. 2 spot behind De'Von Achane, but therein lies the rub, as Achane's breakout campaign locked him more firmly into the lead role. Wright has the speed to take the ball to the house every time he gets it though, and the Dolphins' offensive scheme could be more run-heavy under new OC Bobby Slowik, considering the addition of Malik Willis at quarterback and the lack of talent on the roster at wide receiver. Looking good at OTAs
Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik said Thursday that Wright "has some speed" and looks comfortable this offseason, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like Wright is off to a good start under the new coaching staff, competing with Ollie Gordon, Donovan Edwards and others for backup backfield roles behind De'Von Achane. One of the bunch could see a decent number of carries, as the Dolphins presumably won't want the sub-200-pound Achane butting heads between the tackles repeatedly. Wright was billed as a big-play threat rather than a power runner when the Dolphins took him in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he does have decent size (5-foot-10, 208 pounds) to go with his 4.38 speed (2024 Combine).

2024
Wright's rookie season was disappointing, but patience is warranted in light of his age (22 in April) and the fact that he was never a full-time player in college at Tennessee. The 2024 fourth-round pick still has plenty of potential, thanks to his 4.38 speed at 5-foot-11, 210. De'Von Achane is too light to do everything in the Miami backfield, and with Raheem Mostert no longer on the roster, Wright seemingly had a clear path to the No. 2 spot on the depth chart. Things didn't go well for him this summer, however, with Wright suffering a leg injury that's expected to keep him out for the start of the season. Rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon stepped up in the meantime and could potentially become the long-term No. 2 back behind Achane if he handles the role well early on.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Chance to run with starters at OTAs
Wright could see extended action with the first-team offense during OTAs, as C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports that De'Von Achane is recovering from a clean-up procedure on his shoulder and will not be a full participant.
ANALYSIS
Wright tied Ollie Gordon for second on the team with 70 carries apiece in 2025, though the former produced 288 rushing yards on that volume compared to Gordon's meager 199. Achane led the team with 238 carries in 2025 and should continue to get the bulk of the backfield touches when healthy, but Wright and Gordon will get valuable opportunities to make their cases for the second spot on the depth chart while Achane is eased back in during OTAs.
