Most draft analysts expected Wright to go sooner than the fourth round this spring, and the combination of a crowded Miami backfield and disappointing draft capital doesn't exactly hint at big-time production Year 1. On the other hand, Raheem Mostert has shown that a running back with Wright's approximate height/weight/speed dimensions can post big numbers in the Mike McDaniel offense. Wright ran a 4.38 40 at 5-11, 210, confirming that he has speed to turn the corner and split safeties in the NFL, after he frequently did so at Tennessee. He averaged 6.0 yards on 146 carries in 2022 and then 7.4 YPC across 137 carries his final season, providing first-rate efficiency on medium-sized workloads in a spread offense. Wright probably isn't much of a power runner and caught only 30 passes in three collegiate seasons, but if Mostert or De'Von Achane misses any time the rookie should offer timely firepower as a rushing specialist. Wright rushed once for three yards during Miami's 20-12 loss to the Texans on Sunday.

ANALYSIS
Wright fell down to third on the depth chart behind De'Von Achane and Raheem Mostert, following the veteran running back's return from injury. Achane and Mostert combined for 18 carries versus Houston, in addition to notable work in the receiving game, while Wright's opportunities were limited to a single carry. The rookie figures to lock down a similar depth role against the 49ers in Week 16.
