Inks one-year deal with Philly
Goedert and the Eagles agreed to terms on a one-year, $7 million contract Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles pushed Goedert's void date back to Monday, and the two sides have finally come to an agreement on a one-year deal. The contract agreement means that the Eagles will avoid a $20 million dead cap hit, per EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Questions still hover over the status of A.J. Brown heading into the 2026 season, but the Eagles will at least have a reliable target for Jalen Hurts in Goedert. The veteran tight end led Philadelphia last season with a career-high 11 touchdowns (across 15 regular-season games) and ranked third in catches and receiving yards behind Brown and DeVonta Smith. Goedert will lead the Eagles' tight end group that also consists of Grant Calcaterra, Johnny Mundt and Cameron Latu.

Goedert has consistently been a low-end fantasy starter, averaging between 42.3 and 58.5 yards per game each of the past five seasons. He was right in the middle last year, with 49.6 ypg, though his season totals (42 catches for 496 yards and two TDs) look underwhelming because hamstring and knee injuries cost him seven games. It was his fifth straight year with multiple missed games, but his first time missing more than five. Goedert has spent his entire seven-year career with the Eagles, maxing out at 87 targets (2019), 830 yards (2021) and five TDs (2019) while catching at least two-thirds of his targets every year and earning about half his yardage after the catch. He'll again be the third receiving option behind WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in a run-first offense, with a good setup for per-target efficiency but not much chance of averaging more than 5-6 targets per game or getting regular goal-line looks.

Contract talks ongoing with PHI
The void date on Goedert's contract with the Eagles has been pushed back to March 16, giving the two sides a couple more days to negotiate, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Most NFL players became free agents when the new league year began March 11, but the void date on Goedert's contract was pushed back to March 13 and then again to March 16. Re-signing Goedert before his contract voids would give the Eagles more flexibility with spreading out his cap hit, and the multiple moves to push Goedert's void date back suggest both sides remain interested in negotiating an extension to keep Goedert in Philadelphia.
