Caleb Williams

23-Year-Old QuarterbackQB
Chicago Bears
2024 Fantasy Outlook
The No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, Williams heads to the Bears as the franchise quarterback. The same was expected of Justin Fields three years ago, but Fields, who was traded to Pittsburgh in March, never had the talent with which the Bears have surrounded Williams. Eight picks after Williams, the Bears drafted Rome Odunze, a 6-3 wideout with 4.45 speed. He joins holdover DJ Moore and trade acquisition Keenan Allen, giving the Bears one of the league’s better WR rooms. The Bears also signed D’Andre Swift, a good pass catcher out of the backfield, and return TE Cole Kmet, who had 11 red-zone TD receptions the last two seasons (second among TEs to Travis Kelce). New offensive coordinator Shane Waldron didn’t exactly turn heads as Seattle’s OC the last few years, but it should go better than what the Bears had last season. At 6-1, 215, Williams can torch defenses from the pocket with his elite arm and also has the mobility to make plays outside the pocket, throwing with nearly as much accuracy and velocity on the move. If Williams has a fault, it’s that he sometimes holds the ball too long in hopes of a big play, thereby inviting trouble. Even then, though, his scrambling ability adds to his fantasy upside. Chicago is the only franchise without a 4,000-yard passer in its history. Williams should finally change that. Read Past Outlooks

Shows improvement in loss
QBChicago Bears
November 17, 2024
Williams completed 23 of 31 passes for 231 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and added nine rushes for 70 yards in the Bears' 20-19 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The first overall pick appeared more in rhythm in his first game under interim offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, but the end result was another loss for the reeling Bears. Williams did put his team in position to pull off a win by leading a seven-play, 42-yard drive that started with him taking back-to-back sacks before recording completions of 16 and 21 yards to Rome Odunze and a 12-yard strike to Keenan Allen. However, the march ended with a blocked field goal as time expired. Williams had a compact target pool of six players on the afternoon, and he finished with his highest yardage total since Week 5. Williams' next chance to build on the positives from his performance comes in a Week 12 home divisional clash against the Vikings.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Believes he has teammates' support
QBChicago Bears
November 14, 2024
Williams said Wednesday that he still feels supported by his teammates despite the rookie's recent struggles, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. "I think I got full support from them," Williams said. "I've gotten texts or calls or people coming up to me, with this situation that just happened, and saying, 'We got your back, we're with you.'"
ANALYSIS
The "situation" Williams is referring to is the report that a few veteran teammates have requested that the rookie be benched in favor of backup Tyson Bagent before the 4-5 Bears' season slips away. Chicago has lost three consecutive games, due in large part to Williams' poor play. Williams has failed to throw a touchdown pass during the losing streak, and his 4.89 yards per attempt are the fewest in the NFL since Week 8. If Williams doesn't right the ship in Week 11 against the Packers, his teammates' support may not be enough to keep him from getting benched for Bagent.
