Sydney Sixers vs. Hobart Hurricanes: 40th Match Preview

League-leading Hobart Hurricanes will travel to Sydney on Wednesday to take on the second-placed Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The Hurricanes have been in rampaging form this season. They have won eight and lost just one match out of the nine they have played so far. Although the Sixers are placed second in the table, they have enjoyed an indifferent form which has seen them winning five and losing five out of their 10 matches so far.

However, they won their last match at the SCG comprehensively and would be looking to ride on that momentum. The Hurricanes on the other hand beat the Adelaide Strikers by all 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval in their previous match. So, their form is quite intimidating to the opposition.

Weather and Pitch Conditions: Slight drizzles are expected in scattered parts of the day but nothing that would affect the length of the match. The SCG pitch is predominantly good for batting even though it assists the spinners to some extent. Big boundaries may favour the bowlers and team batting first will have the advantage in the match.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Matthew Wade (9 Cr)

Wade bats at the top of the order for the Hurricanes. He has the second highest amount of runs and the highest for any wicket-keeper in the league so far with 323 runs at an average of 40.37. He played a scintillating knock of 84* off just 49 deliveries in the previous match and looks

He played a scintillating knock of 84* off just 49 deliveries in the previous match and looks good to play more innings like that.

Batsman: D'Arcy Short (11 Cr)

He is the highest run getter in the tournament so far with 441 runs at an average of 63.00. He has five scores of fifty or more to his name so far and is coming into this match on the back of a fabulous knock of 73* off 52 deliveries in this previous match. Moreover, he has six wickets to his name with the ball as well. So, there is no reason to doubt or overlook him as a fantasy weapon.

All-rounder: Tom Curran (9.5 Cr)

Curran has been in fabulous all-round form for the Sixers in this season so far. With the ball, he has picked up 14 wickets at an average of 18.07 and has 175 runs with the bat at 35.00.

Bowler: Sean Abbott (9 Cr)

Abbott is the joint third highest wicket taker in the league so far with 15 wickets at an average of 19.93. He is an attacking bowler who always looks for wickets. The big boundaries at Sydney will suit his kind of bowling too.

Captain: D'Arcy Short

Vice-Captain: Tom Curran
