Melbourne Renegades vs. Melbourne Stars: BBL Finals Preview

The time for the final showdown of the 2018/19 edition of KFC T20 Big Bash League has come as the Renegades gear up to take on the Stars in the famous Melbourne Derby on Sunday afternoon. There have been lots of ups and downs in the entire season for both the teams. The Renegades began their campaign with three consecutive victories but lost the plot towards the middle of the tournament as they lost back to back matches. However, they pulled themselves up once again and here they are just one step away from claiming the title.

The Stars didn't have a bright start to the tournament like the Renegades. They lost most of their initial matches but once their regular members returned from national duty, they picked themselves up and made a late charge towards the finals. The Renegades are coming into this match on the back of semifinal heroics from Dan Christian. He pulled off the victory single handedly with his blitzkrieg down the order. But they have some major concerns at the top of the order with players misfiring all through out the season.

The Stars, on the other hand, would take heart from their comprehensive semifinal victory against league toppers Hobart Hurricanes. Both their batting and bowling unit has showed good form in the last few matches and if they can repeat a similar performance one last time, the title that has eluded them for so long won't be far away.

Weather and Pitch Conditions: Skies will remain mostly cloudy but no chance of rain. The breeze can aid the fast bowlers but the pitch at Docklands is generally good for batting. If the batsmen can negotiate the new ball properly, high scores are possible across both innings.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Peter Handscomb (9 Cr)

Handscomb is the best available option for the Wicket-keeper spot in your team. He bats at No 3 for the Stars and has the capability bat through at a good strike rate too.

Batsman: Aaron Finch (10 Cr)

The Renegades skipper is the best bat for your batting slot. He may cost you a fortune but you can expect him to give good returns more often than not.

All-Rounder: Marcus Stoinis (11 Cr)

Stoinis has been in scintillating all-round form this season. He has played some wonderful match winning knocks while opening the batting and has picked up some crucial wickets too. He makes a good captaincy option for your team.

Bowler: Kane Richardson (9.5 Cr)

He is one of the highest wicket-takers of this season so far and can be expected to pick up more this time as well. He went wicket-less in the last match and that might fire him up more to do good this time around.

Captain: Marcus Stoinis

Vice-Captain: Aaron Finch
