After a busy Monday, the NBA quiets down with just four games on the schedule Tuesday. Despite only eight teams being in action, there is plenty of top-tier talent available in DFS with the Raptors, Thunder, Blazers and Timberwolves set to take the floor. Here are some options at various price points to target or avoid while creating your Yahoo entry.
GUARDS
Derrick Rose, MIN at PHO ($22): Rose has been one of the offensive leaders for the Timberwolves with a 26.4 percent usage rate that is his highest mark since his days with the Bulls. He's also been able to average 30 minutes a game, leaving him with plenty of scoring upside. These two teams just faced each other Sunday and Rose shined with 31 points across 38 minutes. Rose has now scored at least 33.1 Yahoo points in five of his last six games, leaving him as a great option at this reasonable price.
Kelly Oubre Jr., PHO vs. MIN ($20): Oubre received a boost in playing time when Devin Booker was out and even though Booker has returned, Oubre is still spending plenty of time on the floor. That's enabled him to score at least 30.3 Yahoo points in six of his last seven games, including 31.6 Yahoo points against the Timberwolves on Sunday. His price is climbing, but it's not high enough yet to shy away from him based on how well he's playing.
Guard to Avoid
Jeff Teague, MIN at PHO ($19): As well as Rose is playing, Teague has been going in the opposite direction. He only scored 20 Yahoo points while battling an illness Sunday and has scored 27.4 Yahoo points or fewer in four straight contests. He logged 26 minutes or fewer in three of those games and could continue to cede some minutes to Rose based on how well Rose is playing. Since they are both similarly priced, it might be best to avoid Teague.
FORWARDS
Luka Doncic, DAL vs. LAC ($38): Doncic's dream rookie season continued Monday when he posted a triple-double against the Bucks. He became the second youngest playing in league history to record a triple-double and has now scored at least 30 Yahoo points in 10 straight games. This is a great matchup for him against a Clippers team that plays at the eighth-fastest pace (102.5 possessions per game) in the league. The last time he faced them, Doncic exploded for 52.3 Yahoo points.
Taj Gibson, MIN at PHO ($15): Even though Tom Thibodeau is no longer coaching the Timberwolves, Gibson has held onto the starting power for job over Dario Saric. Gibson doesn't have a high upside despite being a starter, but he's still managed to score at least 26.2 Yahoo points in five of his last eight games. The Suns are dealing with injuries to their frontcourt, so it's not all that surprising that Gibson scored 28 Yahoo points against them Sunday. He's a viable tournament play option in their rematch.
Forward to Avoid
Josh Jackson, PHO vs. MIN ($17): Jackson logged just 23 minutes in Sunday's contest between these two teams, finishing with 24 Yahoo points. Across four games since Booker returned from injury, Jackson is averaging just 15.7 Yahoo points and 22 minutes per game. It's hard to get excited about him at this price.
CENTERS
Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN at PHO ($48): With Deandre Ayton (ankle) and Richaun Holmes (foot) out Sunday, Towns destroyed the Suns for 61.4 Yahoo points. That marked the ninth time in the last 12 games that Towns has scored at least 51.9 Yahoo points. Both Holmes and Ayton are expected to remain out Tuesday, leaving Towns with the possibility for another strong stat line.
Dragan Bender, PHO vs. MIN ($12): The Suns had no choice but to turn to Bender as their starting center Sunday. He ended up playing 29 minutes, which was significantly higher than his season average of nine minutes per contest. The Suns had to be pleased with his production since he finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a block. If both Ayton and Holmes are out again Tuesday -- which looks likely -- Bender could provide excellent value at this price. However, if Holmes plays, he might be the better option, especially since he's even a dollar cheaper than Bender. Be sure to keep an eye on Holmes' (doubtful) status leading up to tip off.
Center to Avoid
Willie Cauley-Stein, SAC at TOR ($25): Even though there are only four games, there are actually a lot of great center options at various price points. As a result, Cauley-Stein might be someone to avoid. He's scored 29.1 Yahoo points or fewer in three of his last four games and has really struggled on the road this season. He's averaging just 11.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game on the road compared to 15 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest at home. Buyer beware.
