Sunday's schedule offers eight games but only four of them will make up the main evening slate on Yahoo. There could be plenty of scoring despite the limited schedule, with bad defensive teams including the Hawks, Kings, Bulls and Timberwolves in action. Let's dive into the matchups and highlight some players to target and avoid for your entry.
GUARDS
D.J. Augustin, ORL vs. ATL ($15): Augustin had one of his best performances of the season in Thursday's dismantling of the Cavaliers, scoring 40.1 Yahoo points across 26 minutes. Not only did he score 20 points, but he also dished out at least five assists for fifth time over his last six games. With the Hawks playing at the second-fastest pace (104.3 possessions per game) and allowing the most points per game (118.8) in the league, this is a great spot to deploy Augustin at a cheap price.
Tyus Jones, MIN at HOU ($11): Jeff Teague (foot) has missed the last two games for the Timberwolves, and it's unlikely that he will return Sunday. Derrick Rose (elbow) also missed those two contests and is listed as questionable for this meeting with the Rockets. Even if Rose is able to return, Jones is an excellent option at this price. He's scored at least 27.9 Yahoo points in back-to-back games and is averaging 10.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.2 steals as a starter this season.
Guard to Avoid
Kent Bazemore, ATL at ORL ($13): While there are some great value play options at guard for this slate, Bazemore is not one of them. The Hawks are healthy heading into the game, which creates a logjam at shooting guard and small forward between Bazemore, Kevin Huerter, Taurean Prince and DeAndre' Bembry. It's one of the main reasons why Bazemore has scored 19.2 Yahoo points or fewer in three of his last four games.
FORWARDS
Danilo Gallinari, LAC vs. BKN ($26): After Gallinari missed one game with an ankle injury, it appears it was a minor issue since he logged 34 minutes in his return against the Bulls on Friday. He certainly wasn't hampered by the injury, scoring 27 points to go along with seven rebounds, one steal and one block. The Clippers play at the ninth-fastest pace (102.4) and Gallinari is tied for the second-highest usage rate (23.2 percent) on the team, leaving him with a high floor once again Sunday.
Jonathan Isaac, ORL vs. ATL ($20): Stacking players on the Magic against the Hawks could be a sound strategy. When these two teams met just over a month ago, the Magic scored 124 points. Isaac excelled in that contest with 41.6 Yahoo points. His stats haven't exactly jumped off the page lately, but he could provide significant value at this price.
Forward to Avoid
Taj Gibson, MIN at HOU ($19): Gibson has shown he can be productive when given an expanded role. When Karl-Anthony Towns missed a game last week, Gibson stepped up to score 45.1 Yahoo points in 30 minutes. However, in two games since then, Gibson has scored 17.8 and 19.5 Yahoo points, respectively. He also logged 21 minutes or fewer in both contests. As long as Towns is healthy, Gibson will continue to have limited upside.
CENTERS
Nikola Vucevic, ORL vs. ATL ($44): If we are looking to stack players on the Magic, it only makes sense to roll with Vucevic and his team-leading 27.8 percent usage rate. With so many viable cheap options at guard and forward, it's not hard to fit him into your entry despite his lofty price tag, either. He's scored at least 40.2 Yahoo points in 12 of his last 13 games and has one of the highest floors of anyone set to take the floor at any position Sunday.
Ivica Zubac, LAC vs. BKN ($12): Rudy Gobert cashed in on his favorable matchup against the Nets on Saturday by producing 23 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks. The Nets are tied for the fourth-most Yahoo points allowed per game (42.7) to opposing centers, so don't be afraid to attack them again Sunday. Montrezl Harrell has the higher upside, but Zubac could be worth the risk in tournament play if you want to save money at center.
Center to Avoid
Alex Len, ATL at ORL ($19): Len has had a couple of excellent games lately, which has resulted in his price tag increasing significantly. However, he scored just 15.3 Yahoo points against the Celtics on Saturday and has scored 24.4 Yahoo points or fewer in four of his last six games, overall. His playing time could be limited with Dewayne Dedmon and John Collins both healthy, and he doesn't come at much of a discount anymore, so buyer beware.
