2024 Fantasy Outlook
Short played in a career-high 112 games for Detroit last year, but he was let go early in the offseason after he posted a .204/.292/.339 slash line with seven homers and five steals. The Mets claimed him off waivers, and he should compete for a utility bench spot in 2024. Read Past Outlooks
Outrighted to Triple-A
Short cleared waivers Saturday and was sent outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
ANALYSIS
Short was dropped from Atlanta's 40-man roster Thursday after he put up a .517 OPS through 69 plate appearances with the big-league squad. The 29-year-old has already switched teams twice this year after being DFA'd by the Mets and Red Sox, but he will remain within the organization this time around.

Short is expected to play three infield positions and the outfield for Detroit, reports Evan Woodbery of MLive.com.
ANALYSIS
Short hit ninth and played second Tuesday in his return to Detroit from the minors. The 27-year-old made starts at five different positions for Triple-A Toledo this season and is expected to play all over the diamond for the Tigers. The utilityman hit .231/.355/.398 with 11 homers and 11 stolen bases in 102 games for the Mud Hens this season. He made his big-league debut last year for the Tigers, and after a strong start, hit just .106/.185/.235 with 47 strikeouts over his final 151 plate appearances. With Jonathan Schoop out with an ankle injury, Short may get some regular playing time and the chance to prove he can hit in the majors.
