2026 Fantasy Outlook
Hoskins was the Opening Day first baseman and cleanup hitter for the Brewers and slashed .276/.374/.475 with nine home runs through the end of May. Things took a turn for the (much) worse for Hoskins after that. He hit .170/.269/.330 over his next 27 games before suffering a sprained thumb that cost him more than two months of action. By the time Hoskins returned, Andrew Vaughn was established at first base and Christian Yelich was holding down the designated hitter spot, which meant Hoskins barely played at all in September and then was left off the Brewers' postseason rosters. The 33-year-old can still hit for power and draw walks, which might be enough to land him a starting gig in free agency. However, as a right-handed hitting first baseman with poor defense, the leash on a regular role could be short. Read Past Outlooks
Bangs out three doubles Wednesday
Hoskins went 3-for-4 with three doubles, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Royals.
Analysis
The veteran first baseman is still looking for his first homer with the Guardians, but it's only a matter of time. Hoskins has gone 7-for-27 (.259) through nine appearances, and five of those hits have been two-baggers to go along with three runs, two RBI and a 6:12 BB:K.

How does Rhys Hoskins compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Hoskins returned to action in 2024 after missing a season due to a torn ACL, and he popped 26 home runs in 131 games. That essentially sums up the positives for the veteran first baseman, who had the worst offensive season of his career with a .214/.303/.419 slash line and 28.9 percent strikeout rate. It's no surprise that he then exercised his $18 million player option with the Brewers for 2025, and he's likely to remain with the club through the offseason given that salary. Hoskins could rebound with another winter being between him and major knee surgery, and in a best-case scenario he replicates the 30 home runs and .794 OPS he posted with Philadelphia in 2022. He's entering his age-32 campaign, however, and a more modest improvement is more likely, assuming he's able to bounce back at all.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Interest from Twins
The Twins have shown interest in Hoskins, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
The Twins are seeking a budget-friendly addition at first base, and Hoskins shouldn't be too costly. Slated to turn 33 in March, Hoskins slashed .237/.332/.416 with 12 home runs over 90 regular-season games for the Brewers in 2025. He missed time with injury, and sidelined saw Andrew Vaughn take over at first base. However, in Minnesota, Hoskins would have a clear path to playing time at first base.
