Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Wagaman played nearly every day last season but occasionally sat against right-handed pitching when he fell into a slump. He was notably more productive against left-handers, posting a .783 OPS, compared to a .612 mark versus righties. His strikeout and hard-hit rates were better than average, though his barrel rate lagged well behind the league norm. That profile supports a reasonable batting-average floor but offers limited category upside. Wagaman appeared in 140 games, a total driven in part by injuries elsewhere on the roster and a lack of alternatives at first base for the Marlins. He was traded to Minnesota in the offseason, where he'll compete for a starting role at first base or DH, but could also win a bench role in a platoon role between the corner infield and corner outfield spots. Homers in win
Wagaman went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Reds.
Analysis
Wagaman made the most out of his first start with the Mets, launching a home run to left field against Andrew Abbott in the second inning. The 28-year-old was recently called up as an option against left-handed pitching after a highly productive stint at Triple-A Syracuse, and Wednesday's production certainly helps his cause with respect to his chances of seeing consistent opportunities.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Wagaman opened the season with Double-A Rochester. After posting a .795 OPS in 94 games, he was advanced to Triple-A Salt Lake City where he recorded a .855 OPS in 27 games. Wagaman was called up early in September and played every day for the rest of the season. However, a .673 OPS in 18 games wasn't good enough for the Angels, so they released him. The Marlins signed Wagaman to a major league contract, likely finding appeal in his ability to play all the corner infield and outfield spots. Wagaman puts the ball in play with above average exit velocity, so there is a chance he serves as a super-utility. He has no mixed league allure but could be an end-gamer in NL-only play.
