Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Hill was claimed off waiver from Miami near the end of the 2025 season and Chicago inked him to a one-year, $900,000 deal this winter. Those type of procedures pretty much dictate he is around as a cheap insurance policy for the next Luis Robert Jr. injury as the club realized they really did not have a good in-house option ready for promotion with the retirement of Michael A. Taylor this winter. Hill's speed and defense will allow him to neatly slide into Taylor's vacated roster spot and role, but there is little reason to expect Hill to blossom into anything more given his previous track record at the plate. Hill can safely remain on the free agent pile until such time comes that you have to cover an injury and are out of better options. Read Past Outlooks
Shipped to Philadelphia in trade
The Phillies acquired Hill and international bonus pool money from the White Sox on Thursday in exchange for Dylan Campbell and Jose Colmenares, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
Hill is effectively replacing Johan Rojas, who needs season-ending internal brace surgery on his right elbow. The right-handed-hitting Hill has a career .521 OPS versus right-handed pitching but boasts a .780 OPS against lefties. He will be used as a late-inning defensive replacement and should see occasional starts in center field against southpaws.

Hill was designated for assignment three times last season, twice by the Rangers, then by the Giants. He finished the year with the Marlins. Hill struggled at all three stops, though he recorded a career high 53 games and 172 plate appearances. He also fanned at a career worst 32.6 percent clip, albeit with an impressive 11.0 percent barrel rate. Hill runs with 95th percentile sprint speed and has a strong arm but still grades below average on defense. At best, Hill is a short side of a platoon outfielder, with minimal mixed league appeal.
