Freese was a key factor in NYCFC's success in 2024, helping the team reach the semi-final of the Leagues Cup and the MLS Eastern Conference. Despite allowing more goals in 2024, Freese was able to solidify a strong presence in the box with an average of 3.5 saves per game, putting him among the league leaders in that category. With Thiago Martins remaining in 2025 and a new coach, Freese could see more clean sheets, especially if a defensively-minded one is hired.
