Maddison's story last season was similar to many other Tottenham players, as he was hampered by injuries. If he can stay fit, he could play a key role in Thomas Frank's system as the creator in the center of the pitch, connecting the defense to the offense. Maddison suffered a bad setback from his knee injury in Sunday's pre-season friendly against Newcastle in South Korea and was stretchered off the pitch late in the game, coach Thomas Frank confirmed in a press conference. "It's most likely he has a bad injury, we need to be honest with that, it's the same knee as the previous injury. Of course, we don't know the full assessment of it, so we need to see that."
