Behrens arrives after a productive loan spell with Heidenheim during the second half of last season, making 16 Bundesliga appearances, including 15 starts, while scoring one goal. Developed primarily within Hoffenheim's academy, the 21-year-old defender also made his Bundesliga debut for the club before earning regular top-flight minutes at Heidenheim. Although naturally right-footed, Behrens is most commonly deployed at left-back and can also operate in central defense, providing Augsburg with valuable versatility.
