William Gomis
The Jaguar

France
Left frustrated in New Jersey
Gomis lost to Pat Sabatini via unanimous decision (27-30, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC 328 on Saturday in Newark.
ANALYSIS
Gomis had nothing to do with all his kickboxing prowess on Saturday, as Sabatini stuck him against the cage for the better part of 15 minutes. In the moments when he was able to break away, Gomis landed consequential shots, but the striking numbers were so close that Sabatini's control time won the day. The French fighter can look good when given the space to work his kicking game, but he needs to be aware that strong wrestlers will always try to deny him his range. Gomis fell to 15-4-0 in professional MMA due to the loss.

Gets step up in competition
Gomis will take on Pat Sabatini in a featherweight matchup at UFC 328 on May 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
We last saw Gomis in September of 2025, when he beat Robert Ruchala via unanimous decision to pick up his fifth UFC victory in six tries (five of those fights have ended with the judges). Gomis will now have to put his takedown defense to the test against a wrestling-heavy opponent in Sabatini who has won three fights in a row. The featherweight division is deep, but if Gomis can find stopping power against this caliber of opponent, a spot in the rankings would at least be a conversation worth having.

Earns win in native Paris
Gomis defeated Robert Ruchala via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Paris.
ANALYSIS
Fighting in front of friends and family in his native Paris, Gomis put forth another credible performance against a quality debuting opponent. It was especially nice to see considering he was fresh off a split decision loss, his first with the UFC, to Hyder Amil his last time out in March. Gomis started slowly before finding his range over the course of the final two rounds. Massive for the featherweight division at 6-foot, William uses his length well and has some power. He's 5-1 in his first half dozen UFC bouts.

UFC debutant on tap at home
Gomis is scheduled to compete against Robert Ruchala in a featherweight fight at UFC Paris on Sept. 6, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Gomis wanted a fight in his home country of France, and that is exactly what he will get. He takes on a new signing, a 27-year-old Polish featherweight 11-1 with six finishes in his professional career.

Falls as favorite
Gomis lost to Hyder Amil via split decision (28-29, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Vegas 103 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The first two rounds saw a mere difference of four combined significant strikes between the two men, hence the split-decision result. Gomis likely took Round 1, while Round 2 was up for grabs, but Amil was the one who finished stronger to secure the decision. It was a tough break for Gomis as a 2-to-1 favorite, but by no means is this a debilitating loss. He still landed over 100 significant strikes in the 15-minute affair, and it's his first loss in four trips to the UFC Octagon. He'll be back, especially after fights like this.

Amil up next
Gomis is scheduled to compete against Hyder Amil in a featherweight fight at UFC Vegas 103 on March 1, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
After being handed a questionable win in his last fight, Gomis will look to get a more definitive victory to begin his 2025. He is 4-0 in UFC action, three by decision and one by KO/TKO.
