Puts fans-not opponent-to sleep

May 9, 2026
Sabatini defeated William Gomis via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC 328 on Saturday in Newark.
ANALYSIS
Sabitini knew he would need to wrestle to neutralize the sharp kickboxing of Gomis, but the 35-year-old was not prepared for the strength of his opponent or his ability to return to his feet after being taken down. This resulted in an excruciating 15-minute bout, which saw the two combatants tally a combined 48 significant strikes. So little happened, in fact, that the judges were forced to award the fight to Sabitini for notching three of 20 (!) takedowns and just over 11 minutes of control time. In all fairness, Sabatini can look good when he gets his game working, but performances like this one are a good reminder that a fighter needs something to fall back on when their main skill set isn't getting the job done. Sabatini improved to 22-5-0 as a result of the victory.

Draws Gomis in May
FeatherweightUFC
April 7, 2026
Sabatini will take on William Gomis in a featherweight matchup at UFC 328 on May 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Sabatini may not have the most exciting style, but he's leaned on his wrestling/grappling to put together three consecutive wins in a deep featherweight division. He now draws Gomis, who has won five of six with the company after taking a decision from Robert Ruchala last September. Gomis defends the takedown at a 72 percent clip, but he has yet to face an opponent with the wrestling chops of Sabatini. A spot in the rankings could be a coversation worth having for the winner, given each man's success of late.
Gets revenge on Jose Mariscal
FeatherweightUFC
November 15, 2025
Sabatini defeated Jose Mariscal via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 322 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
These two first fought back in April 2018, with Mariscal winning via split decision. Sabatini made sure the rematch wouldn't be anywhere near as close. Pat's striking is below-average, but at his best, as he was this evening, he's a world-class grappler. Sabatini turned seven successful takedowns and 10:37 worth of control time into a clean sweep on the scorecards. The lone complaint about Pat's wrestling is that he sometimes isn't active enough from top position. Still, when you control your opponent for more than two-thirds of a three-round fight, you're almost always going to take a decision. Sabatini has won three in a row and four of his last five.

Sabatini is scheduled to compete against fellow featherweight Jose Marsical at UFC 322 in New York City on Nov. 15, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Sabatini and Mariscal took under a month's notice for their next fight to compete at Madison Square Garden. Both are coming off wins, with the former's coming off an April 5 decision over Joanderson Brito.
Flawless effort in easy win

April 5, 2025
Sabatini defeated Joanderson Brito via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
He's had a couple stinkers in his UFC run, but when he's on his game, and he was this evening, Sabatini is about the most dominant featherweight on the roster. An elite power-wrestler, Sabatini closed with four takedowns, 13:47 worth of control time and a 135-27 edge in total strikes landed. Pat is severely lacking in the striking department and is typically ineffective in terms of ground-and-pound from top position, but he's one of the best in the world in terms of keeping you pinned to the mat once he gets you there. Working against Sabatini is the fact he'll be 35 years old in November and is just 3-2 in his past five fights dating back to September 2022.
Taking on Brito in April
FeatherweightUFC
February 9, 2025
Sabatini will face Joanderson Brito at a UFC event in Las Vegas on April 5, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Sabatini will head into the bout riding a five-fight win streak across promotions. The 34-year-old American will look to overcome a slight reach disadvantage against the younger Brazilian. With a perfect 13-0 record in submission finishes, Sabatini will undoubtedly be looking to use the ground game in this one, though Brito is no stranger to submission success with an impressive 8-1 record in such finishes.
