Winning streak snapped at seven
FlyweightUFC
March 28, 2026
Barber lost to Alexa Grasso via KO (punch) at 2:42 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Barber entered having won seven straight fights, so it's difficult to say one setback is the end of the world, but this result, or at least how it happened, is going to be difficult to overcome. Grasso has pinpoint striking, but she certainly isn't known for her power. Yet, all it took was one right hand to put Maycee out cold. She dropped to the mat after getting clocked and immediately found herself in a rear-naked choke, but referee Mike Beltran realized Barber wasn't responding and stepped in. Maycee remained on the mat for quite a while, and it was several minutes before it appeared she was aware what had happened. Barber will be 28 years old in May. She's not a kid anymore. And while almost any competitor would take a 7-1 mark over an eight-fight span, the top of the 125-pound female division is loaded, and this defeat sets Barber back considerably. It's the type of brutal loss that has the potential to take years off the career of even the best competitors.

January 7, 2026
Barber will fight Alexa Grasso at UFC Seattle on March 28, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Racks up seventh straight win
FlyweightUFC
December 6, 2025
Barber defeated Karine Silva via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 323 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's been a long road back for Barber following her last-minute withdrawal from a main event fight against Erin Blanchfield in May. She really battled hard here against Silva, displaying her trademark aggressiveness and ability to rack up a ton of damage in a short amount of time. Maycee struggled a bit early on before finding her range. She eventually won the significant strike battle by a 55-21 count, in addition to landing three takedowns and 6:20 worth of control time. It was a real solid effort, albeit against an opponent nowhere near the caliber of a Blanchfield. Barber has won seven straight dating back to July 2021, so more notable matchups are going to be forthcoming.
Slated to fight Karine Silva
FlyweightUFC
September 10, 2025
Barber will face Karine Silva in a flyweight bout at UFC 323 on Dec. 6, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Barber was scheduled to fight Erin Blanchfield on May 31, but the bout was cancelled at the very last minute after Barber was deemed not medically cleared to compete. She hasn't stepped on the octagon since defeating Katlyn Cerminara via unanimous decision at UFC 299 on March 9, 2024, though she's riding a six-fight winning streak.
Last-minute fight cancellation
FlyweightUFC
May 31, 2025
Barber's main event fight with Erin Blanchfield on Saturday at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas was cancelled after Barber was not medically cleared to compete.
ANALYSIS
To say this happened at the last minute is an understatement. ESPN had actually aired the promo video prior to the fighter walkouts, at which point the news was announced. Barber missed weight by half a pound Friday morning, but it's not clear at the moment if the cancellation is related to that.
Misses weight, fight still on
FlyweightUFC
May 30, 2025
Barber is scheduled to compete against Erin Blanchfield in a catchweight fight at UFC Vegas 107 on Saturday, per Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
ANALYSIS
Barber missed the flyweight weight limit by half a pound, an unfortunate set of circumstances that will cost her 20 percent of her purse, forfeited to Blanchfield. Barber will need a convincing win to establish herself as a big-time contender in the UFC's flyweight division.
