Mateusz Gamrot

Poland
Gets right back in win column
Gamrot defeated Esteban Ribovics via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 4:19 of Round 2 at UFC 327 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
When we last saw Gamrot in October, he was getting dominated by Charles Oliveira in a main event, second-round submission defeat. He got right back in the horse here in what was a mauling from start to finish. Gamrot got to his trademark grappling game a couple minutes in, and the fight was essentially over at that point. When all was said and done, he landed 4-of-6 takedowns for 6:50 worth of control time. Crazy numbers for a fight which lasted a shade over nine minutes. Gamrot has now taken down every single one of his 13 UFC opponents. He has major consistency issues but is capable of a dominant performance under the right circumstances.

Set to fight Ribovics
Gamrot will fight Esteban Ribovics at UFC 327 on April 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Gamrot lost to Charles Oliveira during his most recent bout in October, giving Gamrot two losses in his last three fights. He'll attempt to right the ship in April, but momentum won't be on his side while taking on an opponent who has won four of his last five.

Crushing main event defeat
Gamrot lost to Charles Oliveira via submission (face crank) at 2:48 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
It continues to be a case of one step forward, two steps back for Gamrot. To be fair, he accepted this fight on short notice after Rafael Fiziev was forced to withdraw and it wasn't a great matchup for him from a stylistic standpoint. Gamrot's grappling-heavy attacked played right into Oliveira's elite submission game. He landed an easy single-leg takedown in Round 1 and ended up getting controlled by Charles for nearly three minutes of the frame. It was Oliveira that landed the takedown in Round 2 before working towards the submission. Gamrot will be 35 years old in December and has alternated losses and wins in his last four fights dating back to March 2024. He's essentially out of time in terms of impacting the title picture in a loaded lightweight division.

Taking on Oliveira
Gamrot will face Charles Oliveira in a lightweight bout at UFC Rio on Oct. 11, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gamrot will step into the Octagon in place of Rafael Fiziev (undisclosed) in arguably the biggest test of his UFC career. Gamrot holds a professional record of 25-3-0 and has emerged victorious in four of his last five bouts dating back to March 2023, with his lone defeat during that span coming against Dan Hooker in August 2024.

Leans on wrestling in victory
Gamrot defeated L'udovit Klein via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a big time rebound performance from Gamrot on the heels of his split decision loss to Dan Hooker in August. He went back to his greatest strength, his wrestling, and did so with much success. Gamrot landed 6-of-11 takedowns for 8:45 worth of control time, essentially eliminating any chance Klein had of winning a decision. The significant strike count was 65-24 in Gamrot's favor. The 34-year-old American Top Team product improves to 4-1 in his past five and 8-2 in his last 10 dating back to April 2021.

Next fight scheduled
Gamrot is scheduled to compete against L'udovit Klein in a lightweight fight at UFC Vegas 107 on May 31, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Gamrot's last fight is in 2024, and the bout saw his three-fight win streak snapped by Dan Hooker via a split-decision loss. For the former's next fight, he will look to snap a long streak of his own, with Klein entering the bout on a seven-fight win streak.
