Louie Sutherland

England
Finally earns first UFC win
Sutherland defeated Tai Tuivasa via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Sutherland wasn't competitive in either of his first two UFC fights, suffering first-round stoppage losses at the hands of Brando Pericic and Valter Walker. He was undoubtedly fighting for his job against Tuivasa and found himself a +175 underdog despite the fact his opponent entered on a six-fight losing streak. To Sutherland's credit, he recognized Tai's greatest weakness and exploited it. Louie turned five successful takedowns into 11:45 worth of control time and a 111-27 edge in total strikes landed. There's absolutely nothing to suggest any of this is sticky, and Sutherland probably needs another win his next time out to ensure his roster spot is safe, but he can breathe a bit for now.

Quickly finished in London
Sutherland lost to Brando Pericic via TKO (punches) at 1:48 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a +210 underdog, Sutherland did the best he could, blitzing Pericic moments after the opening bell rang in search of the finish. Sadly, it didn't go his way. Louie eventually got cracked on one of his reckless entries and ended up on the mat eating unanswered shots before referee Marc Goddard was forced to step in. In his two UFC appearances, Sutherland has lasted 84 and 108 seconds respectively. It's not a guarantee he will be granted a third fight with the company.

Given second chance
Sutherland is scheduled to compete against Brando Pericic in a heavyweight fight at UFC London on March 21, per Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
ANALYSIS
Sutherland's last fight marked his UFC debut, during which he submitted to Valter Walker in under 90 seconds. Sutherland will fight another recent debutant who knocked out Elisha Ellison in his debut.

Lasts 84 seconds in UFC debut
Sutherland lost to Valter Walker via submission (heel hook) at 1:24 of Round 1 at UFC 321 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Sutherland was due to fight Justin Tafa last month before the latter withdrew due to illness. He got a chance to compete here against a much better opponent and paid for it. Louie is your typical heavyweight brawler. He's not going to be able to remain competitive against opponents that are blasting takedowns and clamping on heel hooks like we saw from Walker in this one. Hopefully the UFC gives Sutherland another shot against a more reasonable opponent.

Next fight scheduled
Sutherland is scheduled to compete against Valter Walker in a heavyweight fight at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 25, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Sutherland and Walker fell victim to fight cancellations, with Justin Tafa and Mohammed Usman respectively. The former can still make his UFC debut but against an in-form Walker on a winning streak all highlighted by submission victories.
