King Green

USA
Snaps brief losing streak
Green defeated Lance Gibson via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Green clearly wanted to get back in the octagon and was willing to fight anyone, which led to this matchup against the debuting Gibson being booked just a few days ago. While the latter was competitive, King looked good and clearly deserved to win, regardless of what the one incompetent judge said. Green won the significant strike battle by a 65-30 count and even mixed in a takedown in the dying seconds. Gibson's entire offense was two successful takedowns, neither of which he took advantage of. It's the first win since April 2024 for the 39-year-old California native.

Taking on Ferreira
Green will face Carlos Diego Ferreira in a lightweight bout at UFC 319 on Aug. 16, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Green has dropped his last two fights, most recently being the victim of a highlight-reel KO at the hands (or more accurately the feet) of Mauricio Ruffy, who disposed of him with a spinning heel kick in Round 1. He'll look to avoid losing a third-straight fight, which would bring his record to an even .500 in the UFC.

Victim of highlight reel KO
Green lost to Mauricio Ruffy via KO (kick) at 2:07 of Round 1 at UFC 313 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Green is a respected veteran with 50-plus pro fights under his belt. There's some gas left in the tank, but at age 38, the UFC simply cannot be matching him up against stone-cold killers such as Ruffy. Green is known to keep his hands down, and Ruffy responded with a head kick that will be in the conversation for Knockout of the Year when 2025 comes to an end. The setback dropped Bobby to 1-3 in his past four fights dating back to December 2023, with all three defeats coming via stoppage. Something is going to have to give moving forward.
