Takes decision in UFC debut
FlyweightUFC
June 6, 2026
Chaves defeated Yuneisy Duben via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Chaves earned her UFC opportunity with a split decision win on Dana White's Contender Series last September. This result appeared more clear cut, although it ended up being a sweat in the end. Chaves lacks technical skill pretty much everywhere, but she's tough, durable, and has good cardio. She won this fight because she was able to outwork Duben over the course of the first two rounds, which is basically what she did on DWCS. Chaves is nearly certain to see a higher-level opponent her next time out, so it will be interesting to see if she can continue this momentum.
UFC debut booked

March 19, 2026
Chaves will fight Yuneisy Duben at UFC Fight Night 278 on June 6 in Las Vegas, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Chaves enters the organization after an entertaining scrap on the Contender Series in September, in which she stormed back after dropping Round 1 to pick up a split-decision victory. She will look to plant her flag against Duben, who was knocked out in her UFC debut by up-and-comer Carli Judice.
Wins bloody war to earn contract

September 23, 2025
Chaves defeated Sofia Montenegro via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at Dana White's Contender Series on Tuesday. After the show, she was one of five fighters to be officially awarded a UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Chaves seemed unprepared for the aggression of Montenegro early, as the Argentine marched her down and landed clean shots. "A braba" recovered nicely, ultimately using her footwork and frame to dance around the outside and bust her opponent up as she closed distance. While Chaves clearly won round 3, a strong argument can be made that Montenegro should have gotten her hand raised, which may have influenced UFC President Dana White's decision to award a contract to both fighters. Chaves has just six professional MMA fights under her belt, but showed tremendous composure to withstand punishment and work her way back into the fight. The combination of skill and toughness makes her an interesting addition to the flyweight division. Chaves moved to 6-0-0 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
