Can't defend takedown in loss
Almeida lost to Cezary Oleksiejczuk via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Almeida's power is entirely legitimate, but he's 37 years of age and this was just his ninth professional fight. His grappling is lacking, to say the least, and Oleksiejczuk, in his UFC debut, took full advantage. Almeida gave up six takedowns and 11:15 worth of control time, making it nearly impossible for him to win a decision. He defended well on the mat and was never in any serious trouble, but he simply didn't generate enough offense to win. Five fights into his UFC run, Almeida is 3-2, with two knockout wins and two decision defeats. He's a knockout-or-bust dart throw moving forward.

Facing debutant next
Almeida will face Cezary Oleksiejczuk in a middleweight bout at UFC Vegas 112 on Dec. 13, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Almeida has won two straight after starting off his UFC career with a win and a loss. He most recently took care of business against Abdul Razak Alhassan back in January. He'll look for a third straight win against an opponent in Oleksiejczuk who will be making his UFC debut.

Highlight reel KO in Vegas
Almeida defeated Abdul Razak Alhassan via KO (punch) at 4:16 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This fight is a perfect example of why Almeida has so much potential, but also why he's unlikely to reach his lofty ceiling. He managed to stuff a couple early takedowns attempts from Alhassan before getting caught with a huge blow which sent him stumbling to the mat. Almeida eventually worked his way back to his feet and took advantage of his opponent's aggressiveness, torching Alhassan with a left hand which will be in the conversation for Knockout of the Year when 2025 is said and done. In the meantime, he'll deservedly take home $50,000 Performance of the Night honors. Almeida's striking is legitimate, but his grappling is non-existent, and he has all of eight pro fights under his belt at age 36. Expect plenty of inconsistency moving forward.

ANALYSIS
Almeida will get back to work in January against Abdul Razak Alhassan after taking down Ihor Potieria at UFC 307. The 36-year-old Brazilian fighter is 2-1 during his short career within the UFC.

Gets right back in win column
Almeida defeated Ihor Potieria via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 307 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off his first career defeat, a split decision against Roman Kopylov at UFC 302 in Newark in June, the company gave Almeida a cake walk matchup to get back in the win column, and he took full advantage. That said, Almeida wasn't all that impressive. He committed at least three eye pokes against Potieria and somehow wasn't penalized by referee Dave Seljestad. Cesar also allowed three takedowns. The stand-up skills are top notch, but the rest of Almeida's game is a work in progress. None of this is a surprise given the fact he has just seven professional fights under his belt at age 36.

Fighting Potieria in October
Almeida will take on Ihor Potieria at UFC 307 on Oct. 5, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After suffering his first career loss to Roman Kopylov on Oct. 5, Almeida will look to bounce back in October versus Potieria. Potieria was recently removed from a fight due to a medical suspension, so there's a chance he will still not be 100 percent healthy when UFC 307 rolls around. Potieria sits at 21-6 on his career, but lost his most recent fight in Round 1 versus Michel Pereira. This matchup will mark Almeida's third UFC bout in six months, and he will look to further make a name for himself with a victory.
