Drops war to Mason Jones
Sola lost to Mason Jones via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
If it's any consolation, Sola will almost certainly be walking away with a $100,000 Fight of the Night bonus for his efforts (later confirmed by UFC President Dana White). This was an absolute war and one in which Sola managed to see the final bell despite fading as the fight progressed. His best round was the first. Sola had issues with the constant pressure of Jones, which is of course what Mason is most known for. Sola lost the significant strike battle by a 110-65 count, although he did manage to land three takedowns. This was the first loss in the professional career of the 28-year-old Frenchman, so his roster spot is plenty secure.

ANALYSIS
A native of France and former standout in the Ares promotion, Sola had a ton of support for his UFC debut and put forth a strong showing. He got the better of the uber-tough McKee on the feet, highlighted by a Round 3 knockdown. Sola also showed off some of his grappling skills by landing a takedown and picking up 3:05 worth of control time. It was a strong all-around effort. A natural lightweight, Sola accepted this fight at 170 pounds. Expect him to drop back down to 155 pounds his next time out.

ANALYSIS
Sola has been excellent as a pro, having gone undefeated since 2019. He's most recently fought in the ARES Fighting Championship, where he boasts a 5-0-1 record. For his UFC debut, he'll get to fight in his home country and take on an opponent with a less-than-stellar 1-4 record in the promotion.
