Still wants to play
Bridgewater said Monday that he wants to continue playing in the NFL next season but has yet to speak with the Buccaneers about a potential return, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Bridgewater is set to become a free agent this offseason. The 33-year-old appeared in four games for Tampa Bay in 2025 and saw extended action in Week 12 against the Rams when Baker Mayfield exited with a shoulder injury. Bridgewater completed eight out of 15 passes for 62 yards and rushed three times for four yards in that one game where he generated any statistics. Should the 10th-year pro reach free agency, he could draw interest from teams in need of a veteran backup in their QB room.

On the heels of back-to-back seasons as a starter with Carolina (in 2020) and Denver (in 2021), Bridgewater headed to Miami last year to work behind Tua Tagovailoa. Concussion issues limited Tagovailoa to 13 games, so Bridgewater ended up making five appearances (two starts) for the Dolphins in which he completed 49 of 79 passes for 683 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. With Mike White now slated to back up Tagovailoa this season, Bridgewater, who turns 31 in November, remains among the more notable free-agent signal-callers still available.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May make spot start in Week 13
Bridgewater got most of the first-team reps at practice Wednesday and is preparing to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals, though Baker Mayfield still has a chance to take the field come Sunday, per Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site.
ANALYSIS
Mayfield sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder during Tampa Bay's Week 12 loss to the Rams. The starting quarterback isn't expected to face an extended absence, but Mayfield may not recover in time to take the field against the Cardinals in Week 13. Bridgewater played the entire second half against the Rams but threw for only 62 yards on 15 pass attempts. If Mayfield's unable to suit up Sunday, Bridgewater would make his first start of the 2025 season and the 66th regular-season start of his NFL career.
