Hartman had a lengthy college career, attempting 1,597 passes across five seasons at Wake Forest before spending his final year at Notre Dame in 2023. He had 77 TD passes and 12 rushing scores over the final two seasons at Wake, but NFL teams didn't see enough tools to warrant a selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Hartman signed up with Washington as an undrafted free agent and now figures to compete with Jeff Driskel for the No. 3 quarterback job behind Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota.
