Signs two-year deal with G-Men
The Giants agreed to terms with Reader on a two-year, $12.5 million contract Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Reader can earn an additional $3 million via incentives. The veteran defensive lineman will turn 32 years old this summer but started all 17 regular-season games with the Lions last season. Reader failed to record a sack in 2025, finishing with 28 tackles (11 solo) while playing 53 percent of the defensive snaps. Reader will help offset the loss of Dexter Lawrence in the middle of the Giants' defensive front.

Reader has been one of the most consistent players at his position in the league since being selected in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Texans. The defensive tackle compiled 23 total tackles, including a career-high 3.0 sacks, over 15 regular-season games in 2024. Reader likely will start alongside Alim McNeill, assuming the latter is healthy from a torn ACL, to begin the 2025 campaign, but rookie first-round pick Tyleik Williams may challenge both for playing time once Williams has gotten his feet wet in the league.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Officially lands in Big Apple
Reader signed a two-year, $12.5 million contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Jordan Raanan and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN report.
ANALYSIS
Per Fowler, Reader could push the total value of the deal to $15.5 million by reaching certain incentives. The veteran tackle serves as a solid replacement for Dexter Lawrence, who was traded to the Bengals in April. Reader's signing is likely the culmination of an interior-defensive-line offseason revamp for New York, which also signed veterans Shelby Harris and Leki Fotu to one-year deals and claimed Zacch Pickens off waivers from the Chiefs on Monday.
