2026 Fantasy Outlook
What began as a nightmare season for Brown in 2025 eventually turned for the better, to the point that by the end of the year the nightmare had been forgotten. Given how poorly it went for Brown through the first six weeks, no one could have guessed how well he would do over the remaining 11 games. Indeed, Brown's year-end numbers in 2025 were similar to those from 2024, buoyed by eight TDs and 28 receptions over the final six weeks (after Joe Burrow returned from a toe injury). Going into 2026, there's reason to think Brown's production will be more even, hopefully keeping all of the highs while removing some of the lows (or at least spacing them out more charitably). The Bengals didn't add any noteworthy running backs in the offseason, and returning backup Samaje Perine is about as non-threatening as veteran backups get. Even if he cedes a few carries to Perine or someone else, Brown is a strong bet to pile up catches and goal-line touches in a prolific offense, creating an obvious path to RB1 fantasy value. Heads into contract year
As Brown approaches the final year of his rookie contract, he remains the Bengals' clear-cut top option at running back, John Sheeran of atozsports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Ben Baby of ESPN, Brown previously expressed his desire to remain with the team that drafted him in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and earlier this offseason the 26-year-old was in communication with the Bengals regarding a possible extension. Brown is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he gained 1,016 yards and six TDs on 232 carries in 17 regular season contests and was sixth among all NFL running backs with 437 receiving yards, while adding five aerial TDs among his 69 catches. Brown is poised to maintain steady weekly volume and fantasy production in 2026 with Samaje Perine set to reprise his role as Brown's top backup, though 2025 sixth-rounder Tahj Brooks could see an uptick in complementary touches after recording just 16 carries as a rookie.

Although he began 2024 as an off-the-bench complement to Zack Moss, it didn't take long for Brown to prove he was the top running back in Cincinnati. It was probably in Week 4 that the Bengals coaching staff got the hint, when Brown ran for 80 yards and two TDs against Carolina. He went on to out-touch Moss in the next four games, at which point Moss suffered a season-ending neck injury. Brown demonstrated immense receiving upside over eight subsequent games, catching 38 passes, confirming that he has the ability to claim standout volume as both a runner and receiver. Brown withstood massive usage in college at Illinois without breaking down, and he made it through last season healthy until suffering a freak ankle sprain Week 17 when he intentionally went down to run out clock. He might have returned to action if Cincinnati had reached the playoffs, and he's now in excellent position for large 2025 workloads after the team waited until Round 6 to draft a running back (Tahj Brooks).

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might get extension this offseason
Brown is a candidate to get a contract extension from the Bengals this offseason, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Executive vice president Katie Blackburn acknowledged Monday as mandatory minicamp got underway that re-signing the running back could be a challenge given the team's salary cap situation, however, especially with other key young players like cornerbacks DJ Turner and Dax Hill also headed into the final year of their rookie contracts. "It's something that we'll have to work through," Blackburn said. "Love those guys. ... We obviously have our work cut out for us as to how to try to figure out how to retain them while we have the other commitments that we have." Cincinnati currently has five players on the roster with cap hits of at least $20 million, and while Brown likely wouldn't command a deal at that level, he is coming off a career-best 2025 campaign in which he racked up 1,456 scrimmage yards over 17 regular-season games with 11 total touchdowns.
