2026 Fantasy Outlook
Barner emerged as the Seahawks’ top TE in his second NFL season, catching 52 of 68 targets for 519 yards and six touchdowns. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the clear No. 1 target for Sam Darnold, but Barner was second on the team in catches and TDs in 2025 while ranking third behind JSN and Cooper Kupp in receiving yards. Seattle also utilized Barner under center in some short-yardage situations, as he rushed 10 times for 14 yards and one touchdown while netting a first down or TD on all but one of his rushing attempts. The 2024 fourth-round pick scored four TDs in his rookie season as a part-time player, so he should remain a threat near the goal line even if 2025 second-round pick Elijah Arroyo encroaches on some of Barner's receiving workload from last year. Sidelined at OTAs
Barner (undisclosed) is not participating in OTAs on Wednesday while recovering from what Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald alluded to as offseason procedures, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Barner played through shoulder and ankle injuries last season, but he nonetheless suited up for all 17 regular-season games while totaling a 52-519-6 line on 68 targets. The 2024 fourth-rounder also operated as the TE1 for all three of the Seahawks' postseason games. Macdonald said Barner will "probably" be available for training camp and is "itching to get out there." With Barner sidelined for OTAs, however, 2025 second-round pick Elijah Arroyo has reportedly impressed and begun taking a step forward in his development. While Barner remains No. 1 tight end for Seattle's offense entering the 2026 campaign, it's possible Arroyo will earn an increased target share in Year 2.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Barner showed some promise as a goal-line option in his rookie season, as the 2024 fourth-round draft pick finished with seven red-zone targets to Noah Fant’s five. The 6-foot-6 Barner scored four touchdowns, while the 6-4 Fant has just one TD over the last two seasons combined. The Seahawks, though, released Fant in July just before training camp. Barner will compete with rookie Elijah Arroyo, the 50th overall pick, for tight end snaps. Arroyo is a prototypical NFL tight end but has a lengthy history of knee injuries. Barner could find his way to increased targets at some point. Barner’s big frame and 82-inch wingspan are at least useful in short-yardage situations.

Non-participant during OTAs
Barner has been sidelined to begin OTAs while recovering from what head coach Mike Macdonald alluded to Wednesday as offseason procedures, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Barner was Seattle's most effective tight end during the 2025 season, pacing the position with 52 catches for 519 yards and six touchdowns in 17 regular-season games while finishing second on the team behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba in both catches and touchdown receptions. After a grueling playoff run that culminated in a Super Bowl victory, Barner apparently needed surgery in the offseason to address some lingering injuries. His absence from OTAs opens the door for 2025 second-round pick Elijah Arroyo to make an impression with the starters.
