Adrian Martinez

Adrian Martinez

25-Year-Old QuarterbackQB
New York Jets
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Martinez is unlikely to beat out Tyrod Taylor for the backup role behind Justin Fields, but the 2024 UFL MVP could stick around as the Jets' third quarterback again after spending most of last season on the practice squad. The 25-year-old Martinez has a dual-threat skill set, as he was the UFL's leading rusher during his MVP campaign while finishing third in the league in passing yards. Read Past Outlooks

Slated for QB2 role Week 15
QBNew York Jets
December 13, 2025
Martinez was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Martinez signed with the Jets' practice squad Wednesday to help supplement the team's injury-riddled quarterback room. Both Tyrod Taylor (groin) and Justin Fields (knee) have been ruled out for Sunday's game, leaving undrafted rookie Brady Cook to serve as the Jets' QB1. Martinez was an undrafted free agent in 2023, and he made his NFL debut with the 49ers in Week 9 when he played one offensive snap. He should only see the field versus Jacksonville if Cook also goes down with injury during the game.

This Week's Opposing Pass Defense
How does the Jaguars pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?
The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. Could take first-team reps
QBSan Francisco 49ers
October 8, 2025
Martinez could take first-team reps in practice this week due to injuries to both Brock Purdy and Mac Jones, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Martinez has served as the No. 2 quarterback behind Jones during the latter's three starts in place of Purdy this season, but he's yet to see the field for his first NFL regular-season snap. Martinez nearly did have to enter the game in San Francisco's Week 5 overtime win over the Rams when Jones took a hard hit to his knee at one point, but the latter never missed a play. Martinez is an unknown regular-season commodity at the NFL level, but he put together a solid preseason and also threw for 1,748 yards with a 15:3 TD:INT while adding 528 rushing yards and another three scores over 10 games with the UFL's Birmingham Stallions in 2024.
