College Football DFS: Week 7 Night Slate

College Football DFS: Week 7 Night Slate

This article is part of our College Football DFS: Night Slate series.

This article will cover the Late and After-Hours slates for FanDuel and DraftKings. Two game cancellations and a lack of quality evening matchups give us a smaller offering than usual, with three games shared by both sites.

SLATE OVERVIEW

Georgia @ Alabama (-4.5) O/U: 57.5

North Carolina @ Florida State (+13.5) O/U: 64.5

Boston College @ Virginia Tech (-13) O/U: 64.5

Due to the cancellations of FIU/CHAR and USM/UTEP, this is all we have for the evening, but we happen to have one of the marquee matchups of the day as the Bulldogs take on Alabama. Although its O/U is on the lower side, it figures to be the popular game in real-life and DFS terms. The high O/U for the BC/VT game is a bit of a head-scratcher, but I can see taking the Over in the UNC/FSU matchup, especially if the Seminoles get their passing game in order.

QUARTERBACK

Mac Jones, Alabama (DK $7,900, FD $9,000) vs. Georgia

The Crimson Tide has some defensive issues to work out, but their offense is humming on all cylinders. Jones is the watch that makes them tick, and he fits the typical Alabama QB role of 'game manager' to a tee. An Alabama stack is definitely something to consider.  Jones has tossed eight touchdowns and only one interception and has already surpassed 1000 yards passing in three games. We can also make an argument for Stetson Bennett (DK $6,600, FD $7,900) on the other side of the matchup, and if

Jones is the watch that makes them tick, and he fits the typical Alabama QB role of 'game manager' to a tee. An Alabama stack is definitely something to consider.  Jones has tossed eight touchdowns and only one interception and has already surpassed 1000 yards passing in three games. We can also make an argument for Stetson Bennett (DK $6,600, FD $7,900) on the other side of the matchup, and if we really want to stack up on this game, I like him as an S-FLEX candidate.

Sam Howell, North Carolina (DK $7,300, FD $8,800) @ Florida State

Sometimes I will load up on Single Entry contests, but Saturday night isn't one of those situations. Mack Brown and the Tarheels have amassed a lot of firepower, and you have to throw a lineup into the mix that stacks Howell with a couple of his weapons. The Tarheel stack could result in similar production to the Alabama stack and will be a lot less popular. Howell doesn't have the yardage output that Jones has, but he can get the ball to his playmakers, and thanks to an excellent running back duo (see below), he's able to open up the passing game with ease.

Phil Jurkovec, Boston College (DK $6,900, FD $8,500) @ Virginia Tech

I don't think this game is as stackable as the others, but Jurkovec is a great S-FLEX pivot. He's absolutely destroyed projections every week and has found rarified air as one of the ACC's most prolific quarterbacks. Gone are the days of A.J. Dillon - the Eagles are now a pass-first team and not the North-South bruiser you'd expect.  We're back to Doug Flutie days with this squad, and although he isn't getting a lot of help from his offensive line, he's making it work.

RUNNING BACK

Najee Harris, Alabama (DK $9,300, FD $9,500) vs. Georgia

It's hard to avoid Harris on this slate. Even against what should be Alabama's most formidable opponent yet, I expect him to excel as the cornerstone of The Tide's offense. He's averaged 25.8 DKFP over his first two games, and I'd expect a similar number against the Bulldogs.

Javonte Williams (DK $7,200, FD $9,700) and Michael Carter (DK $6,400, FD $8,800),

North Carolina @ Florida State

Remember what I said about alternate stacks?  Here's one you can bank on against a mediocre Florida State rush defense. If you aren't stacking and you must pick one, Williams is the better option, but Carter is a perfectly reasonable way to go for $800 less if you're struggling for cash.  Either way, both of these backs are on track to give a floor of 18-20 DKFP.

Khalil Herbert, Virginia Tech (DK $7,500, FD $9,400) vs. Boston College

Boston College will have their hands full against the Hokies, who are 2-1 and almost upended UNC in a high-scoring affair.  Herbert is the nexus of their winning ways. He has five touchdowns so far this season and has exceeded projections by a mile in each contest. I think 20 DKFP is actually a conservative estimate for Herbert, who'll be facing an Eagles defense that's surrendered an average of 146 yards to opposing running backs.

WIDE RECEIVER

Jaylen Waddle, Alabama (DK $7,100, FD $9,100) vs. Georgia

I have nothing against DeVonta Smith, but he's more of a possession receiver in Alabama's offense.  Waddle is the unquestioned deep threat with an average of 21.2 yards per catch. The PPR scoring structure might favor Smith a bit more, but Weddle's breakaway speed and YAC ability give you prime upside in a game where he'll be highly utilized.

Kearis Jackson, Georgia (DK $6,000, FD $8,000) @ Alabama

Jackson was Stetson Bennett's primary target through the team's first two games.  He's amassed 15 receptions for 209 yards during that span, and he has potential for a 5x return on his salary in this matchup.  There's no one else that comes close to this production among Georgia's stable of wideouts.

James Mitchell, Virginia Tech (DK $5,400, FD $7,300) vs. Boston College

Mitchell is a very steady producer that I definitely favor in cash contests. I've stayed away from Hendon Hooker in most of my builds, but the newly-minted starter will find reliability with Mitchell in his first start. The insertion of Hooker does make for some volatility with the Hokies, but it should also give the team less popularity on the site as well.

OTHER FLEX TARGETS

As usual, I favor a two-QB scheme for the S-Flex, and Hooker might be a good GPP option if you're in a gambling mood.  I'd also give some cash consideration to UNC receivers. The highest volatility lies with the available FSu wideouts, Tammorrion Terry's injury provides some sneaky value.  Look to Camren McDonald and Ontaria Wilson to see more time in his absence.
