DraftKings CFL: Week 15 Value Plays

The CFL is back with a full four-game Week 15 slate that opens with a Friday doubleheader headlined by the defending champion Stampeders taking on an improved, high-octane Argonauts squad. Then, the Redblacks close out the weekend Saturday night trying to exact revenge on the Lions in the second game of their home-and-home series, a contest in which Mike Reilly will look to put together a second straight stellar fantasy performance. With plenty to break down, let's get down to highlighting some of the strongest plays at each position: 

DraftKings CFL Plays - Week 15

Quarterback

Mike Reilly, BC at OTT ($9,600): Reilly came through last week in this same matchup while often resembling the fantasy legend he's been most of his career. That was a particularly welcome sight following a difficult season for him and the Lions overall, and the veteran has a chance to orchestrate a successful encore in the Week 15 rematch. The Redblacks are now allowing 306.7 passing yards per game, along with the second-most completions (299), third-highest average yards per attempt (8.6) and third-most passing touchdowns (16). Reilly has actually been better on the road as well, averaging 20.39 fantasy points across seven away contests this season. Reilly's 9.9 yards per attempt and 32.54 fantasy points in Week 14 both qualified as his second highest this season and set him up nicely as for another strong return in Week 15.

Bo Levi Mitchell, CGY at TOR ($9,400): It's worth noting he Argonauts' McLeod Bethel-Thompson ($9,500) is also very appealing on the other side of this matchup. However, Mitchell was excellent in last week's narrow win over the Tiger-Cats, racking up 342 yards and a touchdown to accumulate 20.68 fantasy points overall. He now gets the juiciest matchup in the CFL for quarterbacks in the Argonauts in Week 15. Toronto checks in yielding the most passing yards per game (328.3), second-highest completion percentage (73.5), highest average yards per attempt (9.5), most passing touchdowns (21) and highest passer efficiency rating (111.3). With that many pathways to success, Mitchell is well worth the investment in either cash or GPPs, especially considering how much better Toronto has been about forcing opponents to remain aggressive in recent weeks with their improved offense.

Dane Evans, HAM at EDM ($8,800): The Eskimos' Logan Kilgore ($8,600) is also an interesting value option on the other side of this matchup, with Trevor Harris already confirmed out for Edmonton. However, Evans is coming off a pair of eye-popping performances and yet continues to sport an extremely reasonable price. Evans has thrown for a combined 802 yards and rushed for another 53 over his last two games, scoring 37.88 and 20.3 fantasy points, respectively. Admittedly, the Eskimos aren't anywhere close to an ideal matchup on paper, considering they're ranked as the stingiest pass defenses in multiple categories. However, Edmonton has yielded 15 passing touchdowns (tied for fourth most) along with a 6:0 TD:INT and the third-highest passer efficiency rating (101.2) in the short passing window (up to nine yards in depth). While the passing yardage isn't likely to be where it's been the last two weeks, Evans offers you attractive savings if you're trying to spend up elsewhere in multiple spots.

Running Back

Andrew Harris, WPG at MTL ($9,800): Harris should be back and raring to go versus the Alouettes after sitting out the last two games due to a suspension. The silver lining on his two-game ban is that it gave Harris' body a rare, multi-week, non-injury-related period of rest for his legs during the latter part of the season. He returns to face a Montreal defense that's allowing 100.0 rushing yards per game at 5.3 yards per clip. Then, Harris has been at his best on the road, averaging 24.06 fantasy points over his five away games. Montreal's vulnerability to the pass also comes into play here given Harris' strong work as a receiver. The Als are allowing a 78.6 percent completion rate in the short passing window (up to nine yards downfield), which where the majority of Harris' targets would normally come.

Brandon Rutley, BC at OTT ($7,100): Rutley has done a fine job in place of John White (lower body) over the last two games, and even if the latter is ready to return Saturday night, Rutley should still see a solid amount of playing time given his recent performances. He touched up this same Redblacks defense for 111 rushing yards in Week 14, and Ottawa is now allowing the second-most rushing yards per game (119.5) and most rushing touchdowns (21). Moreover, Ottawa is also tied for the second-most rushes of more than 20 yards allowed (nine), making Rutley an even more appealing candidate at a price that still allows you to fit in other strong pieces around him.

Ka'Deem Carey, CGY at TOR ($6,700): Carey saw limited rushing work (nine carries) in Week 14, but he rounded out his production nicely with three receptions for 40 yards. His Week 15 matchup is even more promising than last week's against the Tiger-Cats, as the Argonauts have allowed the most rushing yards per game (125.4), highest average yards per rush (5.6) and second-most rushing touchdowns (15). Toronto has also facilitated the third-most runs of greater than 20 yards (nine) and their considerable vulnerabilities against the pass already detailed in Mitchell's entry boost Carey's outlook even further if he's utilized in a complementary receiving role again this week. 

Wide Receiver/Slotback

Bralon Addison, HAM at EDM ($9,500):  Addison has become something close to matchup-proof at this point due to the upside he brings as a de facto part-time running back at the moment and his stellar work as a receiver. The second-year wideout scored 25.8 fantasy points in Week 14 versus the Stampeders, and he's eclipsed the century mark through the air in three of his past four games. As mentioned in Evans' entry, the Eskimos have been extremely tough against the pass overall, but their weakness in the short passing window dovetails well with Addison's offensive profile (11.5 YPC, 113.2 receiver efficiency rate). Add in his occasional work as a running back against a so-so rush defense (101.2 rush yards allowed per game at 5.6 yards per carry) and Addison remains in play despite the tough assignment.

Derel Walker, TOR vs. CGY ($9,400): In the last few seasons, targeting the Stampeders' secondary in fantasy wasn't advisable by any stretch. However, times have changed, as the 2019 edition has proven surprisingly vulnerable on a consistent basis.  Calgary is allowing a respectable 269.6 passing yards per game, but they've also yielded the most completions (321) and highest completion percentage (73.8). The Argos' passing game has been considerably improved over the last several weeks, and Walker has played an integral part with 14 receptions for 293 yards and two touchdowns over his last pair of contests. Walker turned in a solid 7-71 line versus the Stamps in Week 6, and given the recent success of Toronto's air attack, he could be primed for much more Friday night.  

Eric Rogers, CGY at TOR ($8,000): Any time the Argonauts are on the docket, you want to have pieces of the opponent's passing game, as the numbers already cited in Mitchell's entry attest. Rogers makes for an excellent option in Week 15, especially with teammate Reggie Begelton already ruled out for the contest with a groin injury. Rogers has averaged a solid 15.46 fantasy points across his five road games, and he's scored 19.8 and 29.9 fantasy points over each of his last two contests while finding the end zone in each. The Argonauts' extensive troubles defending the pass were already detailed in Mitchell's entry, and in addition to those numbers already cited, it's also worth noting Toronto has allowed the most completions of over 30 yards (21) in the league. That bodes well for Rogers, who has brought in six of the 13 targets of at least 20 yards in depth he's seen this season and has speed to burn.

Dominique Rhymes, OTT vs. BC ($7,400): Rhymes is priced extremely reasonably for a receiver who's been as consistently productive as he has in recent games. The second-year speedster has 95 or more receiving yards in four of his last five contests and is coming off a 113-yard showing versus the Lions in Week 14 that netted 19.3 fantasy points. BC is allowing a robust 70.4 percent completion rate and the second-most passing touchdowns (19) in the league as well. Rhymes has logged seven or more targets in four of the last five contests, giving him a fairly dependable floor in this home matchup.

Team Defense

Montreal Alouettes vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers ($4,400): The Alouettes haven't exactly been a natural choice for defense very often this season, but Week 15 brings a unique opportunity based on price and matchup. Montreal's $4.4K price tag ties them with the Argos right in the middle of the pack in terms of pricing on the week, but they'll face a Blue Bombers squad that's still missing Matt Nichols (arm). Chris Streveler has been serviceable under center as his replacement and contributes plenty on the ground, but Winnipeg has committed 23 turnovers, including the second-most fumbles (10). In turn, Montreal has forced a solid 22 turnovers and garnered 47 points off of them. The Als defense has also averaged a solid 7.8 fantasy points per home game while surrendering a stingy 18.0 points per contest, making them a sneaky play despite the return of Harris from his suspension.
