Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Monday brings Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals with the Phoenix Suns looking to advance past the Los Angeles Clippers with a victory. This matchup also provides an opportunity to play Yahoo's single game contest.

In addition to selecting two flex players, there are three multiplier positions in this single-game format. A player slotted into the Megastar spot will earn double their fantasy points scored. The Superstar spot will earn 1.5X their fantasy points scored. Finally, the Star will earn 1.2X their fantasy points scored. With that in mind, let's discuss some players to consider.

MULTIPIERS

Paul George ($42): George struggled mightily from the field in Game 4, making just five of his 20 attempts from the field. He still managed to score 23 points, though, thanks to him shooting 12-for-18 from the free-throw line. Also, he dominated in other areas with 16 rebounds and six assists. The Clippers will continue to run their offense through George with Kawhi Leonard (knee) out, which leaves him with an extremely high floor.

Chris Paul ($32): It's been a struggle from the field for Paul since he made his return from being in the league's health and safety protocols. He shot a combined 11-for-41 from the field over the last two games, which is extremely rare for him given that he's shot at least 48.9 percent in back-to-back seasons. On the bright side, he still scored at least 32.3 Yahoo points in both games thanks to his contributions in other areas. If he can get his shot right for this game, the sky is the limit.

Deandre Ayton ($31): Ayton was as good as it gets in Game 4, posting 19 points and 22 rebounds on his way to 61.9 Yahoo points. He's had a dominant series, scoring at least 32.8 Yahoo points in each game. He's logged at least 35 minutes in each game, as well, which has also helped his cause. His role won't be changing anytime soon, so he should be considered as one of the top options for one of the multiplier spots.

FLEX PLAYS

Reggie Jackson ($20): One of the reasons why the Clippers are still alive in the playoffs despite Leonard's injury has been Jackson's increased scoring. Over the last six games, he's averaged 22.5 points and 3.0 three-pointers. He shot 49.1 percent from the field and averaged 38 minutes during that stretch, which has helped lead to some impressive totals. While his 8-for-24 shooting performance in Game 4 wasn't exactly great, him receiving that many shot attempts is a good illustration of where he currently stands within the Clippers' offense.

Ivica Zubac ($16): The Clippers have had to ditch their small lineup with how well Ayton has played. Zubac has returned to the starting five, and while Ayton has continued to thrive, Zubac has certainly made his presence felt. He has recorded a double-double in three straight games, averaging 14.0 points, 13.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks along the way. Expect him to at least threaten for a double-double in this game, as well.

PLAYER TO AVOID

Jae Crowder ($17): Crowder has been a key defender in this series, but he hasn't been a great DFS option. He's scored 22.2 Yahoo points or fewer in all four games and he hasn't even topped 16 Yahoo points in any of the last three games. With both Jackson and Zubac in the same salary range, taking a chance on Crowder to have a breakout performance might not be wise.
