Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Friday brings Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks. This matchup also provides an opportunity to play Yahoo's single game contest.

In addition to selecting two flex players, there are three multiplier positions in this single-game format. A player slotted into the Megastar spot will earn double their fantasy points scored. The Superstar spot will earn 1.5X their fantasy points scored. Finally, the Star will earn 1.2X their fantasy points scored. With that in mind, let's discuss some players to consider.

MULTIPIERS

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($54): The Hawks don't have anyone who can remotely keep up with Giannis, and it showed in Game 1 as he made 14 of 25 shots from the field on his way to scoring 34 points. He also narrowly missed a triple-double with 12 rebounds and nine assists. The cherry on top was Giannis recording two steals and two blocks. The Bucks desperately want to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole before going on the road, so look for him to be aggressive and come away with another monster stat line.

Trae Young ($43): As good as Giannis was in Game 1, Young was even better. Whether it was passing off the backboard for a John Collins dunk or a shoulder shake before draining a wide-open three-pointer, Young produced one highlight after another on his way to 48 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and one steal. While he faced a tough defender in Jrue Holiday, the Hawks used screens well to get Young away from him as much as possible. With a hefty usage rate and ability to rack up assists, he should be a lock for one of the multiplier positions.

Jrue Holiday ($31): Holiday came through with his best performance of the Bucks' playoff run recording 33 points, four rebounds, 10 assists and two steals across 42 minutes. He went 14-for-25 from the field, putting an end to a slump that had seen him shoot 33.3 percent from the field over the previous five games. Holiday shot 50.3 percent during the regular season, so it was only a matter of time before he got back on track. With the combination of being one of the top secondary scoring options behind Giannis and averaging 39 minutes per game during the playoffs, Holiday could be in line for another productive evening.

FLEX PLAYS

John Collins ($21): With the Hawks adding a lot of talent during the offseason, Collins took on a reduced role during the regular season and only averaged 29 minutes. But when it's mattered the most, they have turned to him for added production. During this playoff run, Collins has averaged 34 minutes. He's used his added playing time to post 16.7 points and 11.8 rebounds over his last six contests. Collins came away with 23 points and 15 rebounds in Game 1 while logging 37 minutes. As long as he continues to play heavy minutes, he'll offer the potential to provide value.

Bobby Portis ($11): After sitting out the final three games of the Bucks' series against the Nets, Portis saw 15 minutes against the Hawks. He's never one to shy away from jacking up shots and is a tough rebounder, so he was able to convert his playing time into 21.1 Yahoo points. As long as Portis remains in the Bucks' rotation for Game 2, he's an intriguing option at near the minimum salary.

PLAYER TO AVOID

Brook Lopez ($19): This series could be a tough matchup for Lopez, who only played 20 minutes in Game 1. While he offers plenty of size, he doesn't play the same in-the-paint style like Clint Capela. Capela dominated in Game 1 while Lopez turned his limited playing time into just seven points and two rebounds. It wouldn't be a surprise for Lopez to also see a reduced role tonight.
