Handicapping the NBA: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our NBA Picks series.

Alex Barutha: Nets +1.5 (-110) vs. LAC -- DraftKings 2:02 PM CT

Brooklyn's stock is at an all-time low after losing to the lowly Wizards dramatically two days ago. It's easy to focus on that and forget the key wins the Nets have secured over Milwaukee and Miami (twice). Considering how close this matchup is on paper -- and Brooklyn likely has the advantage there -- I like getting 1.5 points in a spot where I believe the Nets will be motivated.

Nick Whalen: Paul George OVER 24.5 points (-110) at Brooklyn -- DraftKings Sportsbook

George has reached the 25-point mark in six of his last 10 games. More importantly, he'll be going up against one of the league's most vulnerable defenses in the Nets, who allowed 149 points to the Wizards -- the Wizards! -- on Sunday night. For as great of a bounceback season as George is having, he hasn't had many monster scoring nights. But I think that changes Tuesday, especially with the Nets having to funnel their primary defensive resources toward Kawhi Leonard. This could be a repeat of Sunday's game, when Brad Beal and Russell Westbrook combined for 78 points.

Ken Crites: I'm taking the UNDER on PointsBet for BOS @ GSW at 226.5

Boston has been playing much better defense as of late, giving up an average of 103 points over their past four games. While the loss of Marcus Smart (calf) certainly hurts their defense, Boston will probably shift back to their "big" lineup with Daniel Theis and Tristan Thompson, both of whom are limited on offense. Smart's absence also means more minutes for Jeff Teague, who is struggling (24.2 FG% over the last seven games). The Warriors are scoring 112.4 points per game, which is padded a bit after two recent big wins over the struggling Timberwolves.
