Best NBA Bets Today
Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers: Over 231.5 total points, -110 @ BetMGM
The Lakers have been slumping in recent weeks and enter this game on a three-game losing skid following a 119-96 loss to the Houston Rockets on Christmas. However, the bad results haven't translated into low-scoring games. Seven of their last 10 games have had at least 230 total points, and the same thing has happened in the previous two head-to-head meetings against the Kings this season.
The Lakers will be without Austin Reaves (calf), so Luka Doncic is primed to dominate and carry an even bigger usage rate on offense, which might translate to him filling out the stat sheet admirably. The Kings have seen only five of their last 10 games end with over 231 total points, and it's hard to rely on their offense -- or their defense -- given how depleted they are. Don't be surprised if the Lakers secure a blowout win here based on all the defensive shortcomings the Kings have had this season.
Detroit Pistons vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Pistons to cover -3 spread, -110 @ Hard Rock
The Clippers are on the rise following a three-game winning streak, but it's worth noting that those wins have come against the Lakers, who are on a three-game losing skid, the inconsistent Trail Blazers, and a depleted Rockets team. The Clippers haven't played a team like the Pistons, who are more athletic and are fully healthy entering this contest.
The Pistons own the best record in the East entering Sunday's slate (24-7), and while this will be their fourth straight game on the road, they're 2-1 in their trip so far. The Pistons are a much better team, and this -3 spread seems absurdly low given the talent gap between the two teams. Expect the Pistons to cover the spread while cruising to an easy win. For what it's worth, they've covered the -3 spread in their last seven wins, and their previous three losses came by four points or fewer.
Boston Celtics vs. Portland Trail Blazers: Deni Avdija over 25.5 points, -111 @ DraftKings
Avdija has been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season, and his growth has been exceptional. The star forward is coming off a 29-point performance in the loss to the Clippers on Friday, and he's posted 24 or more points in five of his previous six appearances. Based on recent performances, there's a good floor to believe Avdija can hover around this mark once again. He's having a career-best season, averaging 25.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game so far in the 2025-26 season.
Considering that the Celtics have won their last four, this won't be an easy matchup for Avdija, especially since he'll be matched up against Jaylen Brown. But as the Blazers' most reliable and consistent scorer, look for Portland to rely on his star forward again and again, especially given his outstanding ability to get to the rim and the free-throw line (9.6 attempts per game). Avdija is also carrying a chip on his shoulder when it comes to facing the Celtics, as he's averaging just 12.7 points per game in his previous three meetings against Boston. That negative streak is likely to end Sunday.
