2026 Fantasy Outlook
Rogers and the O's had the last laugh in 2025 after some mocked the team's 2024 trade to acquire the left-hander -- after all, Baltimore gave up both Kyle Stowers and Connor Norby in the deal. Initially optioned to Triple-A upon his return from a knee injury in 2025, Rogers made his first big-league start of the season May 24 and went on to post a mind-bending 1.35 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 100:26 K:BB across his first 106.2 innings before enduring a six-run hiccup in Yankee Stadium in his final outing. That 1.35 ERA was the best in team history through 17 starts, and the southpaw showed increased velocity after visiting Driveline Baseball last winter. The numbers hold up fairly well under scrutiny, though even the kindest estimators have him a run worse than his surface ERA last season. At 28, Rogers has positioned himself near the top of the Baltimore rotation following his breakout campaign. Read Past Outlooks
Quality start ends in seventh frame
Rogers did not factor into Friday's decision against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three across six innings.
Analysis
Rogers was in complete command for most of Friday's start, giving up just three baserunners through the first six innings. He was brought back out for the seventh, but that decision backfired on the Orioles as Rogers proceeded to give up two-run home runs to both Kazuma Okamoto and Charles McAdoo without recording an out. It ruined what would have otherwise been Roger's fourth quality start of the season and first since April 7 against the White Sox. He has given up at least four earned runs in six of his seven starts since his early-April outing against the White Sox, which has Rogers sitting at a 6.84 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over 48.2 innings. His next start is slated for next week against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
2022
2021
2018
Rogers stayed healthy last season after injuries limited him to just four starts in 2023. The results, however, were not up to snuff. With his four-seamer velocity down to a career-low 91.9 mph - nearly a three-mph drop from its peak in 2022 - Rogers' strikeout rate fell to a measly 17.3 percent. To make matters worse, his walk rate was up to 10 percent and his average exit velocity was in just the sixth percentile. The Orioles sensed they could get more out of Rogers and traded for him at the deadline, but he was even worse there and spent more time in the minors than he did their rotation. Rogers trained at Driveline Baseball over the offseason in hopes of regaining some ticks on his fastball. If that happens, a bounce-back is possible, but fantasy managers would be wise to believe it when they see it.
