Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
It wound up being a lost 2025 season for Thomas, who was limited to only 39 games due to a wrist injury and later plantar fasciitis in his right foot which eventually required surgery. When healthy, the 30-year-old collected just a .518 OPS and 31 percent strikeout rate. Thomas has been prone to streakiness, particularly from a power perspective, but he was a top-30 fantasy outfielder both in 2023 and 2024, and he should be recovered from foot surgery in time for Opening Day. Even with the nagging foot problems, Thomas still ranked in the 94th percentile in sprint speed, and he's consistently been elite in that regard. Thomas could return to fantasy relevance in 2026 after landing a job as a regular with the Royals over the winter. Read Past Outlooks
Pinch hits in loss
Thomas (hamstring) went 0-for-1 with a flyout in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox.
Analysis
Thomas was removed from Tuesday's game with hamstring soreness, but he's evidently healthy enough to take at-bats. With Aroldis Chapman on the mound for Boston in the bottom of the ninth inning, Thomas pinch hit for lefty Kyle Isbel. Thomas has gone 4-for-26 (.154) with one double, four RBI and a 6:10 BB:K this month, dropping his OPS to .619 across 108 plate appearances on the season.

2020
Thomas' power fell off significantly in 2024 following his 28-homer breakout in 2023, but he was still able to turn in a top-30 outfielder season for fantasy managers thanks in large part to a career-high 32 stolen bases. The 29-year-old notched 28 of those 32 thefts with the Nationals, a team which was one of the most aggressive in the league on the basepaths. Thomas stole just four bags in six tries following a trade to the Guardians, so his running game outlook is a little cloudy as he heads into his first full season in Cleveland. At the plate, Thomas got off to a horrid start after the trade to the point that he wasn't even an everyday guy anymore. However, he finished strong with seven homers in September and another two in the playoffs. He should be viable in deeper leagues either way, but Thomas' ultimate ceiling in 2025 could depend on how much he and the Guardians want to run.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could return to Cleveland
Thomas will be a candidate to re-sign with the Guardians for the 2026 season, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Thomas, who underwent surgery on his right foot in September, struggled to remain healthy during the 2025 campaign, appearing in only 39 games while hitting a dismal .160 with four homers, 11 RBI, four stolen bases and 10 runs scored. A reunion in 2026 may make sense for both parties, as the Guardians could likely sign him at a discount given his injury-riddled 2025, while Thomas would get a chance to prove that he's deserving of a long-term deal in the future.
