2026 Fantasy Outlook
Schwarber exploded for a career-high 56 homers during the 2025 regular season, most in the National League, while driving in 132 to lead all of baseball. He was also fifth in MLB in walks with 108, made his third All-Star team and finished as the runner-up for MVP. Only Aaron Judge has more home runs than Schwarber over the past four seasons, and he's now cleared the century mark in both runs and RBI each of the last three years. Strikeouts have always held down his batting average, though Schwarber's finished in the .240s the last two seasons after dipping below the Mendoza Line as recently as 2023. After testing the waters in free agency for a short period of time, Schwarber ultimately agreed to return to Philadelphia, signing a five-year, $150 million deal in December. A liability in batting average and requiring the UT spot in fantasy, Schwarber carries immense appeal regardless thanks to his elite power and run production. Read Past Outlooks
Launches towering homer
Schwarber went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and a solo home run during Friday's 10-1 win over the Rockies.
Analysis
Schwarber has had a relatively quiet start to the 2026 campaign, but he had a loud swing Friday. He launched a towering 460-foot home run in the fifth inning as part of a day on which he reached base three times. Despite batting only .200 on the season and having no multi-hit games so far, he sports a .975 OPS thanks to the fact that three of his five hits on the season are home runs.

Your eyes are not failing you; Schwarber's final 2024 batting average was five points above the league-wide average for the season. Perhaps now, his only issue on draft day is that he is a man without a position, as he lost his outfield eligibility last season with Bryce Harper healthy enough to return to playing the field. Schwarber and Pete Alonso are the only players to hit at least 30 homers in each of the past five full seasons, and with Schwarber heading into the final year of his existing deal, the skills and motivation to continue that streak are both in play. His jump in batting average is directly correlated to his improved average on ground balls. We cannot fully credit the shift rule changes since they were present in 2023 when Schwarber hit .164 on ground balls, but the .300 batting average on grounders in 2024 was a huge surprise and certainly helpful, given his 41.7 percent ground-ball rate last season was his highest in recent seasons. In short, the 2022 to 2024 window is very repeatable.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Offer matched by Baltimore
Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Orioles offered Schwarber the same five-year, $150 million contract that he signed with the Phillies.
Analysis
Baltimore was serious about adding one of the top sluggers on the market this winter, and that was never made more evident than when they signed Pete Alonso to a $155 million pact shortly after Schwarber was off the board. It's not surprising for Schwarber to be back with Philadelphia after he posted or tied career highs during the 2025 regular season with 56 homers, 10 steals, 132 RBI, 111 runs and a .928 OPS in 162 games.
