Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Dominguez is so loaded with tools that expectations entering 2025 were sky high despite the fact he had only 100 regular-season big-league plate appearances under his belt. The campaign didn't go smoothly for the player whose otherworldly skill set earned him the nickname The Martian, as he recorded a mediocre.719 OPS across 123 games, often struggled in the field and saw his playing time diminish late in the season and into the playoffs. Dominguez did flash good speed with 23 stolen bases in 28 attempts, but he knocked just 10 long balls and ranked in the 14th percentile leaguewide with a 26.8 percent strikeout rate. The caveat, of course, is that Dominguez is still quite young (he'll turn 23 just before spring training), which creates more intrigue around New York's plans for him. By bringing back veteran Trent Grisham for another year, the Yankees potentially created another outfield logjam, especially if Cody Bellinger is re-signed. Despite his poor .569 OPS versus southpaws last season, Dominguez probably deserves a chance to develop with an everyday role, but it's unclear if that's in the cards for him in 2026. Back in action Wednesday
Dominguez (tooth) will start in right field and bat fifth in Wednesday's game versus the White Sox.
Analysis
Dominguez didn't play Tuesday after having a tooth extracted earlier in the day, but he's back in there for Wednesday's festivities. The switch hitter has homered once and reached base three times in two contests since returning from a shoulder injury.

2020
Dominguez is a good bet to go 20-20 if the playing time is there. He has six homers and six steals in 100 MLB plate appearances and turns 22 in February, which makes him almost a year younger than Pete Crow-Armstrong and Dylan Crews. He returned to minor-league action in mid-May after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September 2023. Dominguez slashed .314/.376/.504 with 11 home runs, 16 steals and a 20 percent strikeout rate in 58 minor-league games before getting regular run for the big club in the final two weeks of the season. Dominguez's outfield defense was poor enough that it led to him hardly playing in New York's deep postseason run. Had Dominguez been more of an offensive spark plug in his brief time in the majors, manager Aaron Boone might have trusted him more in the playoffs, but the skipper is already publicly envisioning a big role for El Marciano (the Martian) in 2025. With a normal offseason and a clearer role for the big club (everyday center fielder), Dominguez's draft cost could steadily rise this spring.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could begin season in minors
Dominguez could begin the 2026 season in the minors, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com speculates.
Analysis
Dominguez has all the talent in the world to open the 2026 season in the majors, but his best path toward seeing regular at-bats might be opening the year in the minors. The returns of Trent Grisham and Cody Bellinger this offseason mean Dominguez doesn't have a clear path to everyday at-bats in the majors. The 23-year-old slashed .257/.331/.388 with 10 home runs and 23 stolen bases over 123 regular-season contests in 2025.
