Minnesota Twins
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Outman looked like a potential star in 2023 when he hit 23 home runs as a rookie in 151 games with a .790 OPS (and a 117+ wRC+), but he struggled the next two seasons with the Dodgers by hitting .137 with six home runs in 75 games with a .514 OPS. The Twins decided to take a shot on a rebound by trading for him in July as he's continued to be productive in the minors. He hit .281 with 23 home runs and .945 OPS between the two organizations at Triple-A. Outman didn't show much in Minnesota as he hit just .147 with a .558 OPS and four home runs in 37 games. Outman's issue has been strikeouts as he had a 42.6% K% last season, has never been below 31.9% in a season in the majors and even had a 30% K% at Triple-A last season. He has above average bat speed and can steal bases which can pay dividends for fantasy teams. However, he may not be able to stay in a lineup and could be a batting average risk due to his swing-and-miss issues. He'll get another shot at finding a steady role with the Twins this spring, but could end up just being Triple-A depth. Read Past Outlooks

Set to stick around for Opening Day
OFMinnesota Twins
March 22, 2026
Outman appears to be set to make the the Twins' Opening Day roster, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Analysis
Outman entered the spring in competition with Alan Roden for the final spot in the Minnesota outfield, and after Roden was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Outman appears to have made the cut. Over 17 Grapefruit League games, Outman batted .220 with two home runs, six RBI, seven runs scored and a team-high seven stolen bases over 50 plate appearances. Roden produced a more impressive .302 average in 15 games, but the 26-year-old still had a minor-league option while Outman did not, and that was likely a driving force in Minnesota's decision to stick with the latter for now. The left-handed-hitting Outman could end up occupying the strong side of a platoon in left field with the right-handed-hitting Austin Martin.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
Outman turned into a must-start fantasy player during his rookie season in 2023. There were some warning signs, though, most notably a 31.9 percent strikeout rate and a .665 OPS with just one home run versus left-handed pitching. That said, even skeptics probably didn't see his rapid downfall in 2024 coming, as Outman found himself back in the minors by mid-May following a dreadful .147/.250/.266 start to the season. He predictably crushed Triple-A pitching (.933 OPS), but Outman never really got another look with the Dodgers, receiving just 32 plate appearances over the rest of the season after his demotion. The power/speed combo is still there, but Outman will turn 28 in May and might need an injury or two to get another shot at regular at-bats with the Dodgers.
Outman began the season on the busier side of a center field platoon, but it wasn't long before the rookie became an everyday player, appearing in 151 contests. The lefty swinger still must hit for more power facing southpaws, as evidenced by his .254/.357/.308 line, but a 246/.351/.484 effort facing right-handers landed Outman third in the NL Rookie of the Year voting. Outman stole 16 bases in 19 tries, for an 84 percent success rate, which could lead to being given the green light more this season. Strikeouts are Outman's primary concern since his 44th percentile hard-hit rate doesn't support maintaining the .343 BABIP Outman registered last season. He doesn't chase much, but when he swings at pitches out of the zone, his contact rate is terrible. This is fixable, especially since Outman's walk rate is above average, but he's a batting average liability until he can demonstrate more contact. This restricts him to the lower half of the Dodgers order, but with his power and speed combination, and the potency of the lineup, Outman is still a strong mixed league asset, just don't pay for upside that may not immediately manifest.
Outman enjoyed a brief but impactful initial cup of coffee in the majors last season, going 6-for-13 with a homer, two doubles, three RBI and six runs (albeit with seven strikeouts) over four games between July 31 and August 4. He continued to make noise after returning to the minors, most notably by hitting for the cycle twice over a torrid four-game stretch in late August. The Dodgers opted not to bring him back for a September call-up, but that had nothing to do with his play -- in fact, Outman broke out with his best minor-league season, slashing .294/.392/.586 with 31 homers, 106 RBI and 13 thefts between Double-A and Triple-A. The jump in power was notable as Outman hadn't previous hit more than 19 bombs in a campaign, and though that did come with a hefty 27.2% strikeout rate, he continued to display patience at the plate with a 12.5% walk rate. Outman rates as an above-average defender with a strong arm and good speed, and given his development as a hitter, he appears ready to make the jump to the next level. The Dodgers non-tendered Cody Bellinger and also lost Justin Turner and Trea Turner, so opportunities should be available to prospects like Miguel Vargas and Outman.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could join big-league roster
OFLos Angeles Dodgers
May 6, 2025
Pages is joining the Dodgers as a member of the taxi squad ahead of Tuesday's game in Miami, reports Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.
Analysis
The 27-year-old is joining the big club as potential outfield depth after Teoscar Hernandez suffered a hamstring injury during Monday's series opener. Outman has spent the first month-plus of the campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City and has an .830 OPS with eight homers and five steals in 32 games, but he also has a 36.3 percent strikeout rate. Hernandez is undergoing an MRI on Tuesday, which could dictate whether a trip to the injured list is necessary.
