Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Bauers made some legitimate improvements from his first to his second season with the Brewers. He was able to cut his strikeout rate from an untenable 34.1 percent down to a manageable 27.1 percent, and he also bumped up his walk rate from 11.3 percent to 14.7 percent, a mark which was the 11th-highest in baseball among 348 players to tally at least 200 plate appearances. Playing time and production remained inconsistent, however, as Bauers was slashing just .188/.314/.338 before a big September (1.018 OPS). The 30-year-old faces playing time uncertainty again heading into 2026, though Bauers has shown enough in recent years when given an opportunity to have spurts of fantasy viability. Idle against lefty
Bauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Analysis
After starting in each of the last five games, the left-handed hitter will take a seat while the Phillies send southpaw Cristopher Sanchez to the rubber. Andrew Vaughn will get the starting nod at first base in place of Bauers and bat second.

Bauers was acquired by the Brewers from the Yankees in November of 2023, and he had a .662 OPS with 12 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 117 games in 2024. He maintained a roster spot with Milwaukee throughout the year and was cut loose after the season, though he re-signed on a minor-league deal. Bauers' low average (.199) and high strikeout and walk rates (34.1 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively), have been consistent since he debuted in 2018, so there's no reason to expect him to take a major step forward at this point in his career. He isn't likely to be more than a depth option at first base and in the outfield, if he makes the MLB roster.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be on block
The Brewers are listening to trade offers for Bauers, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Analysis
Perhaps not coincidentally, the Brewers acquired Andrew Vaughn via trade Friday, giving them a potential replacement for Bauers as a big-league bench piece. The 29-year-old has collected a .762 OPS with five homers in 43 games this season, but he's also struck out at a 33.3 percent clip and offers essentially no defensive value. Bauers has another year of team control in 2026.
